Senate Debt Deal Includes Provision Lessening Congress' Power On Debt Ceiling
Breitbart ^

Posted on 10/16/2013 4:49:51 PM PDT by Perdogg

Capitol Hill talk regarding the Senate deal apparently includes a provision that would take away the Congress’ power to increase the debt ceiling. According to Politico, it looks like the buzz appears to be true.:

The plan includes a proposal offered by McConnell in the 2011 debt ceiling crisis that allows Congress to disapprove of the debt ceiling increase, which means lawmakers will formally vote on whether to reject a debt ceiling increase until Feb. 7. Obama can veto that legislation if it passes. If Congress fails as expected to gather a two-thirds majority to override the veto, the debt ceiling would be raised.

No, JRandom, if this story IS true (and I don’t put all my stock in Politico) then the ONLY way for the debt ceiling to be stopped is for 2/3 of the Congress to say NO in February.

If 2/3 does not say NO, the AssClown gets to continue borrowing.

That's not what I'm seeing. The debt extension expires in February. The CR expires in January.

“Money still has to be appropriated by congress before it can be spent. Borrowing and spending are two different things.”

and when was the last time congress didnt appropriate a trillion or two?

Who is going to say no? King, McLame, Boner, Lady gramnesty, ore any other of the french republicans. Only the democrats have the balls to say no and then only to a republican administration. Not to worry there will never be another republican administration anyway.

So, who’s missing from the 19 votes with Cruz on the filibuster vote of a couple of weeks ago?

absolutely, the debt limit was the one brake on unlimited spending and debt.

this is the single most destructive act and greatest betrayal that any Republican has done that i can recall.

McConnell has thrown it away in exchange for a PR based fake vote against a debt increase that will never have any effect

he has done this to deliberately reduce the power of the t party that does want to do something about spending and debt

something to ponder, if whatever democrat had defeated mcconnell last time around, this would not have happened.

We're operating under sequestration now. It continues and there are automatic sequestration cuts in January that total 109 billion.

We have lost almost all battles

the last battle is the Amnesty bill

if we lose that then we can lose all hope because we will be done then
