The problem of course is, will it be reversible before the collapse.

That ship sailed in 2008, in my opinion. Voluntary paying the piper is no longer an option. Now we wait until we involuntary pay that piper, and the amount we owe has grown considerably larger.

It's not just the welfare state. It is also the debt, the housing bubble that was never allowed to deflate, the markets that have been rigged, the toxic assets that remain, the equity bubble that has formed, the interest rates that have been suppressed, the commodity bubble that has formed, the destruction of the small and medium size businesses. And, to top it all off, it is the fact that all of these are global phenomena.

We will be paying a much higher price than we would have if our nation hadn't acted like a spoiled brat in 2008.

There will be no one to subsidize us.

You have that right. When all of this gets involuntarily paid for (which always happens, eventually), most of the world will pay. Not only will they not subsidize us. They may be very, very, angry at us.

We had a repub solicitation call yesterday. My wife told the woman why wouldn’t be contributing. The woman had an answer for the negatives.
Finally my wife simply hung up on her.

OMG do you read the posting from "Boris Alatovkrap"? I had tears streaming down my face yesterday after I looked him up and read many of his one liners. In these rough times we need a laugh, this one is too good from Boris: "Reagan is create Voodoo Economics, but Obama is create Zombie Economics."
