White House 'considering unfreezing Iranian funds'

Barack Obama is considering ways to keep up the diplomatic momentum with Iran.

The White House is reportedly considering a plan to unfreeze billions of dollars in Iranian assets if Tehran is prepared to show it is taking credible steps to dismantle its nuclear programme.

The plan would not scale back the international sanctions regime designed to strangle Iran's oil industry but would allow for money to be returned to ease the sanctions' economic damage.

A senior White House official briefed the New York Times on the proposal after talks in Geneva between the Iranian government of new president Hassan Rouhani and the six-nation bloc known as the P5+1.

While the talks in Switzerland did not lead to a breakthrough, Western diplomats said they were significantly more productive than those held while the combative Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held the Iranian presidency.

In the most substantial meeting since the new thaw in relations, Wendy Sherman, the lead US negotiator, and Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian deputy foreign minister, met for an hour-long discussion in Geneva.

Obama was considering replacing his cabinet with a contingent from China, Russia, and Iran.

Then, he’d sign an executive order abolishing the House and Senate.

While this would be a quicker path to his end objective, he decided it might be too sudden......

Think of the funds as a slushie. They won’t be unfrozen without being sampled. I wonder how much, and how the take will be routed and hidden.

Who does he think he is, a republican?

He’ll negociate with Iranian terrorists but
put’s his foot down when it comes to Americans.

Hussein needs to provide aid to Iran as the war drums with Israel beat louder.
