Would Jesus Reject 'Amnesty' for Illegals?
World Net Daily ^ | October 29, 2013 | Jonathon Moseley

Posted on 10/29/2013 5:59:08 PM PDT by Moseley

Giving ‘amnesty’ to illegal immigrants depends upon manipulating gullible voters and elected officials. A major component of the amnesty propaganda campaign is trying to convince churches and Christians that they have to support citizenship for 11 to 20 million people breaking the law in our nation because of their Christian beliefs. Enlisting Church denominations – even those who normally vote conservative – is essential to the amnesty effort.

But “Go and sin no more,” was one of Jesus Christ’s most frequent commands. Christian forgiveness never means keeping what you stole. Note the example of Zaccheus, who cries out in Luke 19 “if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much.” Upon seeing such heart-felt repentance, Jesus announces: “Today salvation has come to this house!”

It has been a controversy for 2,000 years: Can a person just sin and get away with it? Can a person sin all they want, then ask to be forgiven? The Christian answer has always been “No,” because forgiveness requires repentance, repentance must be sincere from the heart (and God sees into our hearts), and sincere repentance requires changing one’s behavior and making restitution where feasible.

Jesus never forgave sin without warning the sinner emphatically to stop sinning. Jesus always called the sinner to turn back toward a path of an honorable and law-abiding life. Looking back, Jesus would – always did – call for a new beginning. But looking forward, Jesus would – always did – call for a new start grounded in obedience to the laws of God and of Man.

Jesus would insist that illegal immigrants be forgiven any punishment for past transgressions. But Jesus would insist that illegal immigrants return to their home countries and start to obey the law.

Actually, the word ‘amnesty’ is a mistake. Amnesty does not mean being allowed to keep ill-gotten gain. Amnesty means a waiver of punishment.

“What would Jesus do?” upon seeing that the unemployment rate in Mexico has ranged between 3 and 5 percent for decades, while in the USA ten million additional Americans have stopped looking for work? Would Jesus have any compassion for those ten million Americans who are so discouraged that they have given up all hope of getting a job since 2008?

“What would Jesus do?” seeing that the average salary of a Mexican is $49,574 per year – adjusted for purchasing power – but the average salary of a US citizen is $40,584 per year? The average Mexican salary is $6,143 per year translated into U.S. currency. However, according to the International Monetary Fund, the purchasing power within the Mexican economy buys 8.07 times as much. That is, a low cost of living in Mexico allows you to buy $8.07 worth of goods and services compared with what you could buy in the U.S. with $1.00. The average Mexican salary will actually provide $49,574 per year of lifestyle. (Obviously, tourist traps in Mexico do not represent the normal Mexican economy.)

“What would Jesus do?” seeing that the United States has already been the most generous nation in history giving to the poor around the world? Would Jesus preach to other nations to step up and start to share that burden? And when the U.S. helps the poor, should we focus first on those who are honest and law-abiding or countries that systematically encourage law-breaking? Would Jesus see any difference between the person who steals and one who receives a gift?

So, I guess God could have merely given us sinners amnesty, in which case there would be no need for Jesus to have done anything.

Render unto Caesear his and unto God, His. In Romans we are called to obey the laws of the government. If we don't we face the punishment of the government. So if illegals have broken the law, and they have, their punishment is deportation. We can forgive them for doing what they did, but sin does have consequences. Back to Mexico or wherever they came from.

Okay don’t punish them, just cut off the benefits and then just send them home.

Go from me and SIN NO MORE.

Basically I forgive but that doesn't give you license to keep sinning (or breaking the law in this case)

We are to obey the law of the land unless it conflicts with G_d’s laws. (1 Peter 2:13 for one)

Question for pro immigration/amnesty types: “What did G*d command the Jews to do to the inhabitants of the land G*d gave to them?

Hint: The Jews were not commanded to make nice with them.

Jesus would depose all Communists and Marxists, and all Humanists in government because of their disregard of God and His Laws. How do we know this? It is simple, actually.

We know it because He IS COMING, and will rule the world, IN THE FLESH from David’s throne in Jerusalem, and ALL will bow ; EVERY knee shall bow.

God’s form of government is and always has been a Monarchy with a Righteous and benevolent King. Read the last chapter in 2 Samuel just for starters.

Democracy is an offront to the Laws of God.

Jesus supports the family. He would tell them to go back home to their wives and children who need their love.

‘Those Who Remain’ focuses on families left behind in Mexico by migrants

Actually, the Catechism has the same interpretation as all the posts I’ve read here

Borders are not to be trifled with by religious. That allowing an invasion and giving to the invaders or illegal/illegitimate non citizens, depletes the host country’s resources rendering that country unable to provide charity for the deserving

Yet the Romans who had and were ravaging Jesus’ native country were minimally dismissed with that “Render onto Caesar” bit?

And I believe the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution could not have been inspired other than by God, and were undertaken with His blessings.

I don't know if Jesus would reject 'Amnesty' for illegals, but I know I am sick of these "what would Jesus do" themes, as if Jesus was concerned at all about what nitwit leaders try to spin as Christian dogma in order to get us to vote for them.

Jesus is God. We are not. In just about every situation in the Bible Jesus was concerned for men's souls, nothing more.

Why did Jesus whip the moneychangers from the temple?
Even though some said it was good business, they didn’t belong there.

"He only cares about your relationship with him and your spiritual faith."

The Lord Jesus cares a whole lot more about things than that. He has THRONE RIGHTS on this earth, and is yet to take them.

All I know is, when my city was invaded by illegals, the following happened:

Increased crime and gangs. Bars on doors and windows. Graffiti and blight. More drunk driving. More uninsured drivers. Long waits at the emergency rooms, and some emergency rooms shutting down. Immigrant women with tons of illegitimate kids paying with food stamps at the stores. Schools becoming dangerous and ineffective. Race fights at schools. Honest businessmen unable to compete against businesses hiring illegals. American women unable to walk down the street because of Mexican punks leering and catcalling at them. And on and on and on.

Could Jesus possibly approve of all this? Doesn’t He care about Americans, too, or only illegals? Does He WANT women to be raped, Americans to lose their jobs or have their wages shrink, Americans to be injured or killed by drunken, unlicensed, often hit-and-run drivers? Does Jesus WANT kids to go through metal detectors at school and learn less because their teachers are dealing with the Spanish-speaking students?

Nothing can make me believe Jesus approves of illegal immigration. Just look at the fruits of it! It’s a disaster. It’s a horror. It benefits no one but the greedy business owners and the selfish, covetous, dishonest illegal who laces up his boots and sneaks across our border like a thief in the night.
