Lee Harvey Oswald Was No “Patsy”
Townhall.com ^ | November 8, 2013 | Humberto Fontova

Of all the people I interviewed in New Orleans regarding the Kennedy assassination, Carlos Bringuier was the one I trusted most. I could see in his eyes he was always telling me the complete truth.” (Oriana Fallaci, L, Europeo, 1969.)

"The skinny guy walked into my store and started looking around," recalls Carlos Bringuier about the afternoon of August 5, 1963. "But I could sense he wasn't a shopper. Sure enough, after a few minutes of browsing he came up and extended his hand. "Good afternoon," he said. "I'm Lee Harvey Oswald."

In 1963 the CIA regarded the Directorio Revolucionario Estudiantil (DRE) “the most militant and deeply motivated of all the Cuban exile organizations seeking to oust Castro." Carlos Bringuier was their representative in New Orleans. It was DRE agents who infiltrated Cuba and brought out the first reports of Soviet missile installations--to the scoffs of the White House's Best and Brightest. It took two months for anyone to finally take them seriously. A U-2 flight then confirmed every last detail of what the DRE boys had been risking their lives for months to report.

“Oswald approached me because my name was so often linked to anti-Castro activities in the local (New Orleans) news,” recalls Bringuier. “He even jammed his hand in his pocket and pulled out a roll of bills, offering to contribute to the anti-Castro cause. I was suspicious and declined, but he kept blasting Castro and Communism in very colorful terms the whole time he was in the store. He returned the next day, snarled out a few more anti-Castroisms and dropped off his training manual for the anti-Castro fight, Guidebook for Marines.”

Two days later Bringuier was astounded to spot Oswald a few blocks away from his store distributing Fair Pay for Cuba pamphlets. Carlos approached, accepted a pamphlet, ripped it to pieces and a scuffle ensued. The cops arrived, the scuffle made the news, and a few days later Bringuier and Oswald debated on New Orleans radio and TV.

Dozens of books, movies, articles and TV specials depict these events. What they DON’T depict is how, between their scuffle and debate, Bringuier and a friend Carlos Quiroga turned the tables on Oswald. Posing as a Castro-sympathizer eager to join Oswald’s Fair Play for Cuba Committee, Quiroga (who had not been in the store or involved in the scuffle) visited Oswald at his home and they commiserated for hours. “You read everyplace that Oswald was dumb, a flake, a patsy, a set-up,” says Bringuier. “Nonsense. He was a smooth operator and spoke fluent Russian.”

Quiroga noticed that Oswald’s living room was filled with Fair Pay For Cuba Committee literature. From one stack Oswald pulled an application to join the Committee and offered it to Quiroga. Yet during the Warren Commission circus The Fair Play for Cuba Committee repeatedly denied that Oswald had any links with them.

Among the things that caught Quiroga's eye during his visit was Oswald speaking Russian with his wife and daughter. "Its good practice," explained Oswald. "I'm studying foreign languages at Tulane University." He was lying. Also keep in mind the date: this was 3 months before the assassination. Oswald’s stint in Russia was virtually unknown at the time.

On the very night of Nov. 22rd 1963 Carlos Bringuier went public on American radio and TV: “We don’t know yet if Lee Harvey Oswald is President Kennedy’s assassin. But if he is, then Fidel Castro’s hand is involved in this assassination."

Fidel Castro immediately called a press conference to denounce Carlos Bringuier by name and kick off the media disinformation campaign that finally peaked as high comedy with Oliver Stone’s JFK.

“For 15 years of my life at the top of the Soviet bloc intelligence community, I was involved in a world-wide disinformation effort aimed at diverting attention away from the KGB’s involvement with Lee Harvey Oswald. The Kennedy assassination conspiracy was born—and it never died.”(Ion Pacepa, the highest ranking intelligence official ever to defect from the Soviet bloc.)

But Carlos Bringuier was on to the disinformation campaign from its very birthday.

“Oliver Stone interviewed me for hours while researching for his movie JFK” recalls Bringuier. “This was almost 30 years ago. Stone’s loony–left credentials weren’t yet blatant. I figured he was after the truth. So I went along, telling him everything. Well, his movie comes out --and turns out I’M involved in the conspiracy to kill JFK!” Bringuier laughs. “For fifty years the media has either ignored or turned everything I’ve told them upside down,” says Bringuier. “Finally I got sick of it so when a couple years back 60 Minutes asked me for an interview, I told them: “sure. I’ll do an interview—but this time it has to be LIVE, no editing.” That ended whatever relationship I had with CBS producers.”

"U.S leaders who plan on eliminating Cuban leaders should not think that they are themselves safe!" warned Castro on Sept 7, 1963. "We are prepared to answer in kind!"

For 34 years Markus Wolf was the chief of East Germany's foreign intelligence service, a branch of the STASI with many contacts and operations in Castro's Cuba. It was the STASI rather than the KGB that undertook the training of Castro's police and intelligence services. Wolf's autobiography is titled, "Man Without a Face" and subtitled, "The Autobiography of Communism's Greatest Spymaster." Most intelligence experts agree that the subtitle fits. Wolf was once asked about the Kennedy assassination and quickly replied. "Don't ask me – ask Fidel Castro.”

This thing still stinks to high heaven. Anyone who claims to know what happened is probably delusional or lying.

I read a book recently (a very bad book) by the so called "gun expert" of the Washington Post. The guy is a liberal ass like the rest of them, but I've seen well meaning people here say he's conservative.

Well, his take (the new liberal take) is that Oswald was a patsy played by a right wing leaning CIA. Oswald could not have done it, but a CIA paid agent took out Kennedy from another building with a tricked out ammo shell that fit Oswald's rifle, but was a self exploding bullet that wouldn't leave any evidence. It was supposedly timed with Oswald's shots, of course totally set up by the right wing CIA.

Oswald was a commie nut, a disturbed guy, someone who thought he was doing the will of history, but the MSM complex always needs to blame his death on the right wing "conspiracy".

We have friends and family in Chicago who come from Mafia families. They believe that the Chicago Mob did have a hand in killing JKF and influencing Ruby.
They had done a big job for him getting him the votes in IL and were pissed when he turned on them. As we know..Judith Exner was a common relation between the mob and JKF. She often appeared at Mob parties in Chicago.

History: Castro was supported by the Eisenhower State Department and the reigning despot, Fulgencio Batista, was forced to flee. The US welcomed Castro as a nationalist, which he posed as one, hiding his communism until he had consolidated power.

Our initial support of Castro predated and had nothing to do with Kennedy.

The reasoning behind the documentary was a full metal jacket bullet would not have made such a mess with that last shot. I agree. Therefore the last shot came from a different gun.

I disagree about the FMJ. I have seen several wounds with FMJ where large arteries were hit (such as in the neck) and they can be very “wet”.

Did Oswald do it? I’ll look him up and ask when I get to my final destination.

I think they were right, but they just had the wrong wing pegged

I do think there was but one shooter, and that one shooter is the one we all know. But I would love to be able to dig deeper into the Castro/KGB aspects and see if it actually went there or instead leads to DNC doorsteps (could you imagine the horrors that would be if JFK wasnt killed and we never got our great Great Society mess...)

Sadly it seems that we may never know who was pulling the strings - and for the life of me, i sure can’t imagine why... lol

The official story makes no sense. 35 years ago I was involved in Navy crypto doing the same sort of thing that LHO was doing. I can tell you without any doubt whatsoever that if I had defected to to the USSR with all the secrets I had at the time and then tried to return to the States I might be looking at the possibility of parole from Leavenworth only about now.

And LHO, at the height of the Cold War, when the the world was staring into the nuclear abyss, goes to Moscow, gives all of his secrets up, and then comes back to the States with a Russian wife in tow and nothing happens?

That's obviously a lie.

The question that nobody asks is "why was LHO not in Leavenworth but rather out and about and going to visit the Russian Embassy in Mexico City and not in Leavenworth?. Why wasn't he safe in prison the day JFK was shot? Who in the world let him out?"

To ask the question is to immediately suggest the answer that somebody high up in American intelligence wanted him out. The most obvious explanation is that LHO was a CIA agent, recruited probably in Japan out of the Corps (but maybe earlier when he was in the Civil Air Patrol), that his assignment was to defect to Moscow as a double agent in order to feed the Russians a bunch of lies and stir up trouble in their own ranks, that the Russians didn't believe it and then sent him packing home.

The fact that he wasn't immediately arrested upon his arrival Stateside and tried for treason proves that he was an American double agent. There simply is no other explanation.

Dig it. The Falcon and the Snowman sold secrets to the USSR in the 70s and did serious time. Jonathan Pollard is another example. There are many other examples. Selling secrets to our enemies is not ever considered a good thing, okay?

Defecting to the USSR in the early 60s at the height of the threat of the incineration of Chicago just wasn't something the United States government was prepared to readily forgive with a smile.

But that's what happened to LHO.

THINK ABOUT IT. THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO LEE HARVEY OSWALD. HIS APPARENT TREASON WAS TREATED LIKE A PARKING TICKET.

Gimme a break. The man was an American double agent. No ifs, ands or buts.

Hey, I’m willing to believe one of these conspiracy theories, but most simply do not jive.

Okay, so there were two shooters according to the conspiracy theorists. According to conspiracy theorists, the fatal shot came from the front, or perhaps from the side. If you’ll remember, the shooter on the grassy knoll turned out to be utter and complete bull sh*t. People really want us to believe that the fatal shot came from the front, yet nobody...not even the three rail yard workers on the triple overpass saw anything.

I also find it hard to believe all the folks involved in this “conspiracy” and cover-up never came forward years after the event.

As I said, I’m willing to believe in one of these conspiracy theories, but most are just kooky with nada proof.

Anyone who really wants to know whether or not Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone needs to read A Simple Act of Murder: November 22, 1963 by Mark Fuhrman. Once you read it, you can't unread it. He discovered ballistics evidence that everyone overlooked for 40 years. It was staring everyone in the face the whole time. End of story.

The man was an American double agent.

GM, research supports your view.

At the time I was an avid Young Americans for Freedom supporter of Barry Goldwater and went to their New York City to draft him. I looked forward to his debating conservativism versus the liberalism of the senator from Massachusetts.

Lee Oswald enlisted in 1956. He was seen training at the ONI facility at Nags Head in 1957 by Richard Case Nagell a US soldier awarded in Korea then an intelligence operative for CIA. (The Man Who Knew Too Much, Dick Russell)

Lee was part of Angleton's false defector program as was Robert Webster of RAND whom Marina confused with Lee, so similar were their profiles.

Lee's route to Moscow and Minsk involved the Albert Schweitzer College in Switzerland which was an intelligence portal.

His Atsugi U-2 radar knowledge was publicy offered and yet he returns in 1962 without going to prison.

On the contrary, CIA Domestic Contacts officer J. Walton Moore arranges for CIA asset George de Mohrenschildt to lead Lee to the Paines who place him in the depository.

Not before he is used by David Atlee Phillips later CIA Western Hemisphere chief and James McCord later Watergate operator in the attack on Fair Play for Cuba Committee.

Lee's last call was to John Hurt of Raleigh whom Victor Marchetti deputy to Helms said was to a clean contact to his ONI handler.

Per the work of Gil Jesus, George Michael Evica and John Armstrong, and others, Lee didn't own the weapons. The backyard photos are composites placing his head on another's body.

He didn't shoot at Walker--that was a 30.06 later switched.

He didn't kill Tippit. That case would have failed at trial.

He was as he said a patsy. The kill shot was to the right temple producing an occipitoparietal avulsive wound on the right which was seen by eighty according to Robert Groden's count (photos in his books of witness descriptions) and the throat wound was as Dr. Malcolm Perry first described, one of entry, before he was badgered by Elmer Moore, Arlen Specter, and Allen Dulles and confided to Dr. McClelland he was afraid "they were going to kill" him.

The withdrawal of the advisors in NSAM 263 of October was undone and reversed by NSAM 273 and NSAM 288 and LBJ used the Tonkin Gulf non-event as a cassus belli.

I am certain had Goldwater run against JFK and won he would have bombed Hanoi and mined Haiphong as LBJ refused to do in 1965: The Day It Became the Longest War

Vietnam would've been free and the course of history would've been vastly improved. The debacle LBJ made of things including the six-trillion-dollar War on Poverty and Medicare have been a great burden on a great nation.

The creation of the legend of the communist Castroite was part of the removal of the against-the-grain president on the part of that which Dwight Eisenhower described in January 1961 as a military-industrial complex.

Today we would add intelligence as indicated by the confirming evidence of Edward Snowden.

One wonders at the true purpose of the Arab Spring: why would the president use CIA to arm Muslim Brotherhood to remove secular regimes and replace them with Islamic ones; why would he select a Muslim DCI and SecDef who is openly anti-Israel, even as he lifts sanctions on Iran.

Intrigue did not begin in Dallas nor end there.

Pretending the actor was the part he played for agencies is to see only the one life of Herbert J. Philbrick.

As then Secretary of Defense and former Director of Intelligence Robert Gates told Senator Patrick Leahy, "Senator, all nations lie to each other--it's how business gets done."

Gates and Zbigniew Brzezinski wrote the 2004 Council on Foreign Relations paper "Iran: Time for a New Approach"

Now as sanctions are lifted it is well to remember Kissinger spoke this past March of an Iran as a future ally.

To believe that then or now the policies conducted in private are those agreed to by the people in public is to have fallen asleep during an episode of Ozzie & Harriet.

Documentary last week said that a secret service agent with an AR-15 did the kill shot “by accident”.

Shouldn't that be:

Documentary last week said that an AR-15, held by a secret service agent, did the kill shot “because that's what AR-15s do”.

Several years ago a French journalist who interviewed Castro and other Cuban officials said Oswald was a low-level agent controlled by the DGI from the Cuban Embassy in Mexico City. Oswald had approached the Cubans and offered his services. He was hired to recruit and organize Americans with pro-Castro sympathies who would attempt to influence popular opinion. Oswald moved to Dallas and in the fall of 1963 told the DGI that Kennedy was scheduled to visit Dallas and his motorcade would pass by the building where Oswald worked. Oswald said he thought he could kill the president with a scoped rifle. The French journalist said the Cubans were very skeptical. They considered Oswald to be unstable and had employed him only because they had had limited success recruiting U.S. citizens as agents. They didn't think Oswald was capable of such a feat but finally told him they had no objections to him taking a shot at JFK.
