Military 'tricare' not OBAMACARE Compliant

Military members, veterans missing out on key ObamaCare provision Published November 11, 2013

One of the most touted benefits of President Obama’s health care overhaul law is the provision allows parents to keep their adult children on their health insurance until age 26.

However, Trace Gallagher reported on “The Kelly File” Monday, this benefit is not being extended to a significant group of Americans: members of the U.S. military.

TRICARE, the Department of Defense program that provides health coverage to active duty and retired military members and their families, only covers young adult dependents up until age 21, or age 23 if they are enrolled full-time in college. TRICARE recipients can then purchase a plan for their young adult dependents, according to their website.

Air Force veteran Eddie Grooms said he was disappointed to learn he could not add his 21-year-old daughter to his insurance provided by the military, as he thought he had been promised under the health care overhaul.

“It’d be nice if they leveled with everybody and let them know so that people could make plans, because this is going to hit all, I mean it’s going to hit thousands of retirees over time,” Grooms said.

Jessie Jane Duff of Concerned Veterans for America told Megyn Kelly the reason the benefit has not been extended to military members is the rates under TRICARE are very low because they are subsidized by U.S. taxpayers.

She said “unfortunately” this means adult children cannot be covered, saying there has to be some “give and take” for the reduced rates.

“We’ve been very fortunate because legislation was passed that exempted TRICARE from a lot of the ObamaCare standings, so that actually has benefited veterans to keep the rates that they’ve had,” Duff said

I say CANCEL all their plans for being invalid.

No really.

Then we'll have a real war with a real army going up against the real enemy.

I have to look up who these ‘concerned people...’ are.

the understanding has always been, not, as she puts it, that taxpayers are the benevolent caretakers, but that salaries for military are comparably low to civilian counterparts, as medical care is a supplement.

she’d better get the story straight. We sure don’t need anyone morphing military into gimme stuffs, not on this Veterans day .

I could curse, but there is a wise rule against it, here.

If they want to take away a LtC’s or a CMsgt’s college age child’s insurance, suddenly raising their monthly bill y a few hundred dollars per month, they must revise their salary.

Any given major in the military is highly skilled and with a masters degree - not a lot, but all - as a requirement, and they make a lot less annually than a civilian counterpart, as a rule.

Compensation for that is Medical care for the family. It is not necessarily high quality medical care. The military member, as a contributor to the military and, as well, a taxpayer, with a relatively low salary, subsidizes it.

so they just have to stop the rhetoric, it’s subsidized’. the military work as hard as any other taxpayer.

Tricare was deemed not acceptable by Obama in 2012. However, after outcry from active duty and vets, it was exempted.

I feel bad for the rest of the folks. The obamacare mandate should apply to everyone, or no one.

No exemptions.

Even to the executive, the congress and courts that agreed to it.
Nor the labor unions, big business, and special interest groups that were waivered.

As O’care destroys private sector healthcare, the VA system will look like a more attractive place to work. I hope there’s an influx of good practitioners.

Tricare is NOT the Mayo clinic. We went, recently, to a local military hospital ER for a hurt foot on a sunday. We can’t go to a civilian facility if there’s a military installation nearby.

“How long do you guys think ‘til, you know, we might see a provider?”

“Oh, six hours, about”.

“Oh...Okay”.

I could write a book. Have had many good experiences.

The military recruit or officer signs up for a number of years and that’s the commitment. It’s not a democratic system. They decide later, they don’t like their boss who has it out for them, they don’t really feel like getting on that transport to go to Afghanistan for a year, there’s no way out but a bad way.

They understand that, with this, they get experience, somewhat of a lower salary compared with a civilian equal, and they have opportunities, but the medical care for themselves and their families is part of the deal. it is a supplement to their low salary.

They would not want to ever take a special dispensation from Obama, it’s just that, his taking away something that is promised to them is a breech. And it is not much.

It is up to congress to get the same dispensation from this disgusting extraconstitutional regulation that is a complete farce.

A few tried, and got shot down.

But I think it’s a mistake to view the military as elite. It’s a matter, I believe, of a breech of contract. BO would take everything away from them if he could. He tried to reduce the VA med coverage his first week in office in 2009, but those laws are upheld much more firmly than those that the congress is allowing to be breeched for everyone else.

And, no one should have any dispensation - but I just would hope the military would get a break from being put in with unions and congress (the no towels in the gym whiners).

Including everyone in DC from Obama on down and IMO taxpayers should not be subsidizing health coverage from anyone who is a government employee unless they are active duty military or have served as active duty.

I guess the retirees who have been kicked off TriCare Prime and been stuck with TriCare Standard aren’t enough for you. Read the comments at the TriCare Facebook page. They are devastated, but they aren’t going into battle over it.

The sacrifices they made while on active duty weren’t enough either? Sure, let’s take health insurance away from the military, so they’ll fight another of our battles.

Why don’t you get off your butt and fight this battle for them? They’ve earned it.

Obama to Force Military Families Away From Tricare …By Tripling Their Fees. Posted on Thursday, November 7th, 2013 at 11:01 am.

President Barack Obama has said on multiple occasions that he stands by the troops, and lauds their selflessness in fighting the Iraq war and the conflict in Afghanistan. During a time when our bravest in uniform have been in a state of war for more than a decade, one would think that our fearless leaders should reward their efforts by making life a bit easier at home.

Instead, Obama simply insists on tripling their fees on the military health insurance program called Tricare.

What is the administration’s reasoning on this? Well, they actually admit that Obama would rather the troops partake in ‘alternatives’ that were established in the Affordable Care Act (otherwise known as Obamacare). In a report from the

http://freebeacon.com FreeBeacon.com
Bill Gertz states:
Administration officials told Congress that one goal of the increased fees is to force military retirees to reduce their involvement in Tricare and eventually opt out of the program in favor of alternatives established by the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.”

This is quite a telling move by the Obama administration, due to the transparency in a letter written to congress, as the FreeBeacon.com further reports:

The Administration is disappointed that the Congress did not incorporate the requested TRICARE fee initiatives into either the appropriation or authorization legislation,” the White House wrote in an official policy statement expressing opposition to the bill, which the House approved in May.”

So, what are these ‘fee initiatives’? The Bill Gertz goes on to say,

Significantly, the plan calls for increases between 30 percent to 78 percent in Tricare annual premiums for the first year. After that, the plan will impose five-year increases ranging from 94 percent to 345 percent—more than 3 times current levels.

According to congressional assessments, a retired Army colonel with a family currently paying $460 a year for health care will pay $2,048.

The new plan hits active duty personnel by increasing co-payments for pharmaceuticals and eliminating incentives for using generic drugs.”

Essentially, Barack Hussein Obama would rather force military families to partake in Obamacare welfare-backed programs rather than using Tricare, and he had hoped to do this by tripling their premiums in just 5 years.

All the while, the report states that Obama leaves his true friends, the ‘unionized civilian defense workers’, unscathed by tax and premium hikes:

The Obama administration’s proposed defense budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their healthcare, while leaving unionized civilian defense workers’ benefits untouched. The proposal is causing a major rift within the Pentagon, according to U.S. officials. Several congressional aides suggested the move is designed to increase the enrollment in Obamacare’s state-run insurance exchanges.

The disparity in treatment between civilian and uniformed personnel is causing a backlash within the military that could undermine recruitment and retention.”

The sad part of this tale is that Barack Obama clearly has no loyalty to his country, his ‘friends’, and most certainly the troops that would carry out his commands without question for the love of their home. It is clearly only profit and power that pulls him out of bed in the morning, and lulls him to sleep at night. How so?

We already know that upon the passage of Obamacare that the market reacted by tanking 1%, while certain public sector insurance companies, hospital firms, and pharmaceutical manufacturers significantly increased in share prices. We already know from leaked Pfizer lobbyist memos that they were going to pledge $80 billion to Obama’s reelection efforts if he were to pass the ACA. So, essentially, the fact that Obama’s action of forcing military families away from Tricare and towards these public sector insurance ‘alternatives’, shows who he really serves. …just a hint, it’s not you or anyone in the military.

That’s correct, he serves the unionized defense contractors (as long as they serve him in return), and he serves public sector companies and Wall Street-owned major medical companies, like Pfizer (also… as long as they serve him in return).

In the closing, Patricia Campion of Yahoo News writes these insightful words:

As commander-in-chief, I want every veteran to know that America will always honor your service and your sacrifice — not just today, but every day,” the president said in November. “And just as you fought for us, we’re going to keep fighting for you — for more jobs, for more security, for the opportunity to keep your families strong and America competitive in the 21st century.”

Of course, he forgot to warn them he was about to kick their existing health care insurance plan so far out of reach that they’d be forced to grab the plan that 53 percent of Americans want repealed for survival.”

Thanks for selling our bravest down the river, Mr. President …you’re a great guy

BE SURE TO Share this:Retired Military especially those on TFL are the BIG target, and their Medicare is NEXT.

The latest crap they are pulling is that the drug store is reaching for their brand OTC med, instead of filling your RX which is half the cost and you might not notice the difference. When my husband's allergy med went from the $17 co-pay to the $39 for a month, this was the OTC price, I noticed as I'm the one who picks up our meds. And must check to be sure that 2 of my meds are the proper ones. So I am very careful to do the checking, I don't care how long it holds up the line, I'm not going home with meds that don't work or I'm allergic to.

Express Scripts has stepped up it's mail order campaign, DO NOT TRUST THEM. They are snakes in the grass. All my dealings with them have been horrible. Want your drugs sitting in your HOT or COLD mail box for some crook to steal, mail order them. 0 will force this on us shortly. Please note there are 2 forms of Tricare, Tricare Prime for those under 65 and Tricare Life for those over 65. We are TFL as hubby is 73. Ret. SCPO's wife. Sorry my HTML skills are limited this morning by eye sight due to a recent bout in the hospital and side effects from their stupid drug Zoyin which was only supposed to have mild side effects, yeah righ NINE full pages, including vision or temp blindness issues.

We have a Navy base less than 15 miles from us, they closed the hospital almost a decade ago. So all we have are civilian hospitals, and they aren’t much better.

My last ER and hospital stay last month, they BLEW 4 veins because they used TO LARGE IV starters, nearly blew a 5th which the ultra sound guy had to find, and he also used to large a IV set up, vein kept rolling and he was to untrained to stop it, so he kept digging and digging at the vein, finally got it in, and it hurt the entire time it was in my arm, and if I was not going home in 2 days, it would have blown the last usable vein I had.

I have NEVER had more that 1 or 2 issues with an IV start, as they normally use IV set ups for smaller veined people on me. I’d just had two procedures that month that required IV’s and neither one of the nurse’s had an issue because they use the RIGHT size IV starters.

BTW you get MOOCH’s kids meal plan as a bonus, dry, pita bread for a sandwich, food unsuitable for a person in with a colon infection. Tasteless or over spiced, gas producing, to much salt and pepper. Lord put the seasonings on the side, and let the patient who knows how much they can use do the seasoning!

Side effects from the Zoysin, 9 pages of them. When I complained of 1 of them the STUPID ME doc who would only talk with my husband, issued orders for a yeast infection, when it was a bladder requiring Peridum, you could not tell him any thing, you are a “woman lower than camel dung in their culture.”
