Democrats decry that characterization and say the new filibuster rule was intended solely to unblock gridlock in the Senate.

Obama-socilized-medicine-care is Marxist Spread-the wealth ploy/scheme...and will not provide quality healthcare for anyone except the rich. When did it become constitutionally correct in America for government to line citizens up in a government program? Obama does not believe nor adhere (in our Constitution)...is there no rule of law the Congress can use to rein in this crooked anti-American tyrant?

There’s a real possibility that, after the Nov. 2014 elections, but before the new Senators are sworn in on Jan. 3, 2015, that the lame duck session of the Senate will vote to change the rules back.

I had thought, mistakenly, that Senate rules took 60 votes to change, and, mistakenly, that Senate rules were only changed on the first day of a new session of Congress. Since Harry went nuclear on a random day in November, clearly there is no restriction on when during a Senate session that rules can be changed.

If Harry changes the rules back during the lame duck session at the end of 2014, then the liberals will have set it up so that the new incoming Republican Senate majority will be the bad guys, if they then change the rule themselves.

Technically, this new Senate rule applies only to presidential nominees, and not to legislation.

However, having gone nuclear and doing the unthinkable with respect to the rules on presidential nominees, it’s not much of a stretch to see Harry Reid do the same thing with filibuster rules relating to regular legislation as well.

Now that the Democrats have opened this Pandora’s box, there’s no turning back. Eventually the filibuster will be done away with for all purposes, entirely by simple majority vote.

At this point who will stop the Dems for placing a Dem as King and ripping up
the Constitution in our faces? Really, who the hell will do a damn thing about it?
In fact, if they started a civil war they would be giddy!!

I was telling my wife that the political environment is like watching your team 2 touchdowns behind starting the second half. It looks like everything is going against you and there is little chance of winning if it keeps going the way it has been.

Then suddenly you get a pick and turn it into a TD in 3 plays. Then they finally start calling the fouls the other side has been doing and the are 3 and out and you have the ball again. We just need the Lord to allow that change in momentum and I have faith He will.

I’m beginning to think election 2014 will be rife with fraud like we’ve never before witnessed.

“If we get the Senate next year which we probably will. We can use this to our advantage. “

I believe you are incorrect. If the dems lose the Senate, during the last day of the last session they control, they will reinstate the filibuster rule. And will scream bloody murder if the Pubbies do anything!

I wonder why Cruz and others didn’t just walk out of the chamber in protest when Harry decided to hold this vote.

But, rather than promising to restore the filibuster once elected, I’d back the GOP candidate that promises to fire any judges who are confirmed by this illegal process once elected president.

Cruz and Lee are “a” solution, but when all else fails not the only solution, there remains one given and demonstrated for us by the Founders.

Ted Cruz is going to make an outstanding president because he understands the value of free markets and respecting the Constitution.

Every since Cruz joined the Senate early this year the GOP looks completely different. They have won on all the major issues: gun control, sequestration, Syria, amnesty, and now healthcare. Glad Cruz is on our side!

The Democrats will come to regret their shortsighted power grab when they lose control of the Senate in 2014

Reid’s action enables theOne now to place the blame for the failure of his “signature accomplishment” and to replace sebelius. Before his, if sebelius had been let go, nobody would have been able to get through the Senate. Now, anybody with a pulse will get approved.

I hope Senator Cruz points out that Harry Reid can not legally change the Senate’s Rules by a “simple majority vote” in the middle of a term.

This means the so-called change in the Filibuster Rule is invalid.

And that means that any of President Obama’s nominees, who are “approved” by Harry’ Reid’s new”procedure”, do not hold their appointments legally.

That means that any regulation or judgment made by such an illegal appointee is itself illegal.

In a free country, illegal regulaions and rulings need not be “obeyed”....

1. Cruz is correct.

2. Constitutionally, there’s nothing that can be done.

3. Leftwing marxist “judges” will be appointed to DC circuit to protect the ongoing communist coup.

4. The operative word in #2 is “Constitutionally”.

Considering what is going on today I believe it is a reasonable protection of/for our Constitution to hold Obama and all enablers to a much more restricted/defined Declaration of Independence. The Nation should never have been subjected to a ‘change’ in the Constitution as proclaimed by Obama and surely the Constitution is worthy of safe guarding from the likes of Obama and his enablers.

So come 2014 or 2016 what are the rules for removing these judges from the court? Certainly they aren’t lifetime appointments? I am thinking only Supreme Court is lifetime or until one chooses to step down.

I’ve been thinking the same thing... don’t rules normally get set at the first few days of each congress, both houses?

Oh, didn’t you hear? Mitch McConnell is going to REVERSE the rule the Democrats voted in. That’s right! Republicans are not going to take advantage of the rule change when it’s OUR majority in the Senate. Considerate, isn’t he? Matt Bivin, I believe, is the Republican who is primarying him next year. Be sure to send him some $$$$$.
