hehe

It’s not just a winter storm, it’s “Winter Storm Boreas”. Much worse when it has a name!

Weather forecasters - - one profession you can be wrong 100% of the time and still earn 100% of your salary.

They will point out that a tiny corner of the remotest part of the listening area got a sprinkling of rain and, therefore, their prediction came to pass.

These people lie almost as good as politicians.

If you’re thinking about the same weatherman I am, he did call the storm of ‘93 correctly...

Stopped Clock. Blind Squirrel. ;-)

Don't get me wrong, he's fun to watch. And if he says it will be 37 degrees outside, and it's actually 39, I'm still going to wear a sweater either way. So, he's as accurate as he needs to be.

But weather forecasting ain't exactly a *precise* science.

"I never seen nothing like this in my life".

HA!!

I was listening to the radio on my way into work this morning. There was a 5 min piece on oyster fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

Brief synopsis: Climate Change causes drought. Drought causes oyster fishing to be bad. Bad fishing = good, hard-working, honest, oyster fisherman losing their livelihood as a result of mean, evil Global Warming.

Sez me..... I'm sure that some of the good, hard-working oyster fisherman will find a way to stay in business. Others will find different vocations.

I'm equally sure that there were never, ever droughts before AlGore invented Global Warming. And additionally, I'm even more certain that fisherman never, ever had bad luck before Global Warming, either.

Sheesh. People have short memories.

Sheesh. People have short memories

Throw in a lot of arrogance with that too. We did not collect reliable weather data until about WWI.

To say "this never happened before", "This is the worst on record...", "It is unprecidented..." etc is pretty much a stretch of any sort of realty and meant only for a dramatic effect.

Yep. And now we have *too much* data. How often have you heard "This is the COLDEST recorded low for November 26th in East Podunk, Arkansas!" or whatever bit of insignificant trivia on the TV?

Gives an impression of radicalized weather patterns, when the reality is that the weather is the same, what's changed is the way we monitor it.

Stepping down from my soapbox, now. :-)

I share that soapbox and agree with you 100%. Sensationalism sells commercials and that is what TV is all about.
