Vegan is the stupidist diet on the planet if you're human. Eating junk food is INFINITELY more healthy than a vegan diet, long-term.

Gore, already stupid enough, will become even stupider and more irrational because on a vegan diet, unless he takes heavy supplments, his brain will be starved of crucial B complex vitamins, which one can ONLY get in animal-based foods such as dairy and meat.

Adults deciding on a vegan diet is bad, but their choice -- they WILL have serious health problems, guaran-damn-teed, because nutrition is chemistry, not fantasy. Humans don't get to choose in terms of nutrition any more than they have the option of choosing to ignore gravity.

However, when vegan adults force their children to eat "vegan," it is CHILD ABUSE. For one thing, infants and small children DIE if restricted to a vegan dietm, as some vegans (charged with murder!) have discovered after ignoring their pediatricians. For another thing, when you do see a kid old enough to "survive" on a vegan diet, a kid weaned off of dairy at the age of five or six to go full-vegan by "conscientious" vegan parents, EVERY TIME that kid has gray circles under the eyes, and is wan and dull.

Vegan is Darwinism in action. It is a diet for people with the mindsets of little girls who want to live without ever "hurting" a single living thing, which is as much a fantasy as unicorns.

That fat POS needs to lose weight anyway.

Don't count on his going vegan to do it. Eating "vegan" (no eggs, no meat, no dairy) absolutely means one can still be very much overweight. I know many vegans. Those who eat tons of bread and nuts, are still fat, but also have tons of alergies and health problems, not to mention BRAIN problems, as in stupidly irrational and aggressive like vegans in nature including bulls and hippos, both vegan creatures, and both EXTREMELY dangerous. Hippos kill more people in Africa than lions do by a long shot, and dairy bulls are exceptionally dangerous and have killed many a farmer.

Veganism does not help you lose weight. It is such a poor diet that you lose muscle and energy, but there are plenty of overweight vegans.

Yep. That's exactly right. I first came across veganism in the mid 1970s and have known many hard-core vegans over the decades since, and they ALL end up with multiple, major chronic health problems that they invariably blame on their environment rather than their little girl "I don't want to hurt any animals" diet. For humans, veganism is the STUPIDEST diet on the planet. Anyone who has a doctor who recommends going on a vegan diet, should switch doctors because the one they've got either hasn't been around long, or isn't very observant.

Do what works for you.

this is the key... to stay svelte, i aim to eat clean 5 days a week--mainly protein and veggies... but i love food, and i love to cook, and i love to feed friends and family... and i will never cut out something considered bad for me completely if i love the taste of it... i find that if i lay off the bread, wheat, pasta for the most part, i maintain... but sometimes i just need that flour tortilla or that sourdough with whatever it is i am eating...

i might have breakfast once a week on the weekend... you know, eggs, bacon, fried potatoes--that type of breakfast... but i usually do not have breakfast more than that... no toast, banana, yogurt, oatmeal--whatever... most people tell me i should start my day out that way, but whenever i do, i gain weight... so i am a firm believer in doing what you said, "do what is right for you." breakfast on a daily basis does not work for me... one cup of coffee gets me through the morning...

and i am definitely anti fat-free, non-fat, at least artificially... if i am going to have sour cream or yogurt or cheese, or bleu cheese dressing, i want the real thing... if i am having a Coke, i want Coke--not diet... i will take butter over margarine any day... i enjoy my dark chocolate with a glass of cabernet... and i love my tequila...

i am sorry for waxing enthusiastically about my eating habits... i just wanted to weigh in on the "do what works for you." :)

p.s. i will take the cheeseburger or porkchop (my favorite meat) over dessert every time...

Yep, seems it’s a pretty high carb diet....Sugars are sugars whether it comes from fruits and vegetables or candy bars.

No, dennis, you do NOT necessarily lose weight on a vegan diet. ABSOLUTELY, that is a plain fact, and I tell you so with absolute certainty because I have among my acquaintance people who have been vegan for DECADES, who have also been overweight for decades, and whose health problems have only increased. The thin vegans I’ve known are the ones who go easy on the bread and starches. I know a few very, very thin vegans (one of my nieces, for one ... very, very sad). I also know several FAT ones.

I don’t know or have met that many vegans but they are or were skinny. Lets see if AlGore balloons upward from his new vegan diet. Will he lose or gain weight? First he has to stick to it which I doubt.

Please notice I have already posted that veganism does not work out long term...from what I have seen. If AlGore does it right he should lose weight. Is it a life long commitment for him? Highly doubtful. He may not last two weeks as a vegan. If he does it for real and for 6-12 months I think he will lose good amount of weight just from being so bloated to start with

Yes, I saw that -- you eat meat. GOOD! I've had a wide variety of vegan friends/acquaintances since the mid 1970s, a few of them very close friends at one time (although I ended a friendship on moral grounds with one because of the abuse she inflicted on her own child via veganism).

It distresses me very much to see that where veganism used to be rare and extreme, restricted to militant fantatics who usually grew out of it after a few years, it is becoming more and more mainstream among little-girl-minded people who want to believe in unicorns. It is a popular fad now, much more so than it was even 20 years ago. It is a DANGEROUS fad, but it is also Darwinism in action, as vegan adults will not reproduce very successfully. I've seen it first hand.

It is not a fad, it is a religion. It is part of the militant Marxist cult which says not to kill animals while destroying people’s health.

It is part of the war on the meat industry wrapped in the lie of being a “good” person. It is a sick cult which is destroying lives.

It is very similar to being kosher only the cult says you are better than those who eat animals. Women are sucked into this since they are both spiritual and always on a diet so they fall for it more than men.

Where you live you find more vegans ..all over the place probably. So you see how bad it can turn out long term. Not too many vegans in Nebraska

How long were some of these you know people vegan? Past five or ten years?

They range from one person who, the last time I saw her some 12 or 13 years ago, had been vegan at that time for abut 25 years, and I expect she is still vegan. Chronic health problems, chronic overweight. Through her I also knew many vegans who had been so for anywhere varying from a few years to decades. Saw their kids. To this day I recognize a vegan kid (usually spotted in health food stores). It's hard for me to keep my mouth shut when seeing them with their parents.

Currently, the vegans I know fairly well have been so for at most a decade. I am HAPPY to say that I can think of about three who quickly outgrew it, who quickly figured out that it was STUPID, mathematically, chemically, and realistically thinking.

Sadly, bray is correct in pointing out that in its way, it's not a fad, it's a religion, though I would say that depending on the person practicing it, it can be one, the other or both, IMO. Certainly it is a decision that comes from pure emotion, lack of reason.

Another thing about veganism -- these folks falsely claim that it's better for the environment, less wasteful of resources! What a laugh!

Use of livestock for meat, dairy, and wide variety of by-products (leather, medicine, etc.) is infinitely more efficient in use of resources. Crops are only viable in certain climactic, geographic, and soil conditions, and mostly require huge diversions of water. That's fine, but on land where crops are too problematic, livestock can eat rough grain and things we could never make use of, and convert it into all the things that help us survive and thrive with health. I always wave to dairy cattle when I drive past them, and say, "Thank you, ladies, for all the milk and ice cream and butter and cheese and goodies you provide for us!" (Yes, I really do! Silly me.)

Exactly, cattle will graze on any land where no crops could ever grow. Most of the grazing land is in areas without water or decent ground and these hypocrites pretend the only cattle raised is from corn feed. Just another Marxist lie.

Vegan will make Algore more flatulent. If he is truly against greenhouse gases, he wouldn’t eat so many veggies...
But since global warming rules do not apply to Algore himself, he probably doesn’t care how much methane he makes...

There is lots of land in America that is too dry for crops but suitable for cattle.
