I remember the summer of 2011, a story about a crowd of teenagers at the Wisconsin State Fair randomly attacking fairgoers went viral as a sign of a burgeoning race war. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel fanned the flames, calling the teenagers "rampaging youths" who caused "mob-like disturbances":
"Then around the closing time of 11 p.m., witnesses told the Journal Sentinel, dozens to hundreds of black youths attacked white people as they left the fair, punching and kicking people and shaking and pounding on their vehicles."
"Dozens to hundreds"? When witnesses can't differentiate between 24 and 100, should we really rely on them to speculate whether a crime was racially motivated? One of the reasons the story gained so much traction could have stemmed from the fact that Milwaukee is the most segregated city in the country, and it validated white residents' fear that their black neighbors are dangerous.
Now, the false trend story of black mob violence has cropped up again, as it seems to do annually, in conservative media outlets. (McKay Coppins wrote about this phenomenon in BuzzFeed last year.) The new scare is the "knockout game," in which black youths supposedly attack innocent people just for fun. Conservative pundits decry the MSM for suffering from political correctness and whitewashing crimes perpetrated by black people, but a more reasonable explanation for why most media outlets aren't devoting round-the-clock coverage to the knockout game is that—sorry, Sean Hannity—there is no hard data showing that it's a trend.

This is exactly the way Big Lib Media has been "reporting" black crime since the sixties. To wit: black crime doesn't exist. Racist whites make the stories up. Nothing to see here. Of course, brain-dead morons like the writer won't walk down black neighborhoods after dark. We'll give her a choice: she can walk one mile in an all-white neighborhood after midnight, or one mile in an all-black neighborhood. I wonder what choice she'd make?

The author has to be read very carefully. The author is not denying that knockout games exist, she is denying that there is a trend that it is getting worse. She is correctly calling out the media for claiming that this is a new trend, because it isnt. The media is calling it a new trend so that they don’t have to explain why they weren’t covering it before. This still doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. So relax, you are not getting beaten up more than usual.
It is a myth until the Slate guy gets punched down on the street. Then it becomes a reality for him but he won’t discuss it.
She not only claimed to have been raped by a gang of white men, but she identified one of them by name: Stephen Pagones, who at the time was an Assistant District Attorney of the county in which she lived.
This accusation was repeated by her "councilor" Al Sharpton (who may have given her the idea and the name in the first place), which slander resulted in the award of a damage judgment in the amount of $345K to Mr. Pagones.
As many of you will recall, Sharpton never paid his share of the judgment himself. It was paid "for" him by one of his friends. Al don't have no money, even though he rides around in limos and private jets.
Aren’t quite of few of these attacks caught on video? Are they saying the videos are fake?

Alright, then explain why Travon is on the news 24/7, 365 days a year and black on white crime is never covered, except by local news? I know of a lynching and a gang shooting that occurred in a city near me that got nowhere near the Travon coverage.
It all goes back to the primary principle to wit, “Reality is a mental construct.”
