So according to you, everything should be open normally every Thanksgiving. Very conservative of you.

I’m with you, and another thing. I cannot for the life of me figure out why Jesus was so mad at the moneychangers in the temple. They were just using their best judgment. That’s where the demand was. Weird of him to act that way./

You cannot change the fact that you all are hypocrites in the worst ways.

Run along, Junior. Toodle off to Walmart tomorrow night so you can buy more junk. Take pictures and post them on this thread so we can see the wonderful time you had!

I refuse to go to the grocery store or shop anywhere on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. These people need, if they realize it or not, a day off to be with their families.

I think this is perfectly awful. Not in a judgmental way, so much as it’s another insult on our culture.

I have worked many Thanksgivings and Christmases as a nurse.

Restaurants feeding couples who’d like to be with others, Hospitals serving the infirm, football which is part of the Thanksgiving celebration, is infinitely different from smacking people in the noggin with a completely different holiday on Thanksgiving.

Worked plenty of holidays in the hospital.

Didn’t like it, but it never felt disrespectful. There is a special ministry that brings joy in working holidays with hospital patients and the interns and other hospital workers.

When we got back from overseas I saw a sign on the window at a movie rental place ‘we are open Thanksgiving’, I was horrified. It was a sign of things to come - anti American tradition, anti- family.

This is different from essential work. It is awful. And it has NOTHING to do with Thanksgiving.

Capitalism is not greed. Capitalism thrives only in a moral arena.

“I’ve owned my own business and it never would of occurred to me to make my employees work on Thanksgiving.”

So do we. Should we tell our customers who might need a prescription, sorry, we are eating our turkey today, you’ll have to wait until we open on Friday?!

Some people don’t mind working on holidays. And Peggy really needs to mind her own damn business! I’m going to shop just because of people like her trying to tell people what is best for them.

I will decide for myself when and where I will shop!

So according to you, everything should be closed normally every Thanksgiving. VERY conservative of you.

In fact, you remind me of Juan Williams last week, accusing Napolitano and Krauthammer of abandoning conservatism by calling for the repeal of Obamacare. I guess his reasoning was that since Obamacare is now "the law," it's incumbent upon conservatives to "conserve" it, since that's what conservatives are all about.

I submit that Juan doesn't have a blind idea what conservatism is. And neither do you.

How will staying home change the fact that people are still going to be working?

“I hope all you hypocrites skip all the football game since all the workers who have to work at the stadium that day just to entertain you. I am sure the bathroom attendees just love working Thanksgiving. You guys make me laugh at your poor worker BS. I can’t wait for your ridiculous excuses about how that is different.....lol. I know it is coming. Bring it on. You cannot change the fact that you all are hypocrites in the worst ways.”

Exactly!

Well knock yourself out. Why don’t you just go ahead and give the old greeter at at WalMart a hip check while you’re rushing to get 6 bucks off a toaster.

What the hell are you talking about?

I’m not shopping at Walmart, I’m going for high end stores because I want to whether you and hypocrite Peggy Noonan likes it or not. And not necessarily for any discounts either, just because I like to shop whether I buy anything or not. Being around people who are having fun like me is much more enjoyable than sitting around with a bunch of grouches all day.

I always enjoyed working on the holidays, especially when I was younger.

Money. Yeah, it’s pretty sad though when people need the extra one day’s pay more so than they need time with friends, family, recreation, or even volunteering at a soup kitchen or something. Anyways, I’m thankful I work for a company that gives me Thursday and Friday off...with pay. I thought most places gave Holidays off with pay at least in the recent past. I guess retailers can’t “afford” to do such a thing.

Ummm I would venture to guess that it IS conservatives (you know those people who value family and tradition)who would be on the side of keeping unneccesary places of business closed so everyone can observe a national Holiday. Is nothing sacred anymore? It might be a small thing to you but the whole is the sum of its parts and consumerism has become more revolting to me the older I grow.

“Some people don’t mind working on Holidays”

Sure, but you can bet there are many who are forced to that would rather not. And if someone waits till the last minute to get a prescription filled there have been 24 HR open every day of the year Walgreens, CVS or Osco within reach of just about anyone except the rural areas. Besides there is a big difference between access to medications and HAVING to shop for shirts and shoes on this one Thursday at Macy’s or Target. Dude, no it’s not “hurting” anyone for stores to be open to the public on Thanksgiving (Except for the workers who can’t be with family who’d prefer to AND those who are going to break up family togetherness because they now “gotta go buh bye sales on!” You know like young people will do. Anyways It’s the principal of the thing.

My daughter’s house caught on fire on Christmas. All four kids and parents were outside. The kids were barefoot in their PJs. youngest was 3. This was the first time it ahd snowed in Dallas since 1930. They were very glad to find a Walmart open that morning. The manager fitted them all with shoes, socks and jeans-—at no charge. That was the only Christmas presents they got.
