I’ll bet that through over-charging or simply not trying too hard, the DA blows this prosecution accidentally on purpose.

I find it hard to reconcile the claim that officers feared for their safety when Ramos had the leisure time to put on latex gloves and tell Kelly that his fists were getting ready to f*** him up. How imminent was the threat? Could he have maybe taken a few more minutes to do some stretching exercises to warm up as well? Maybe a few practice swings with the baton? And what was Cicinelli doing at the same time, a few practice laps around the park to get the heart going?

As a Police Officer and a Correctional Officer (former) I have been in altercations with several individuals similar to this fellow that was killed.

It is a frightening experience. Because of drug use or mental condition the combative person seems to not feel pain. You however do.

Did you not see the video? Those officers were under no threat, so why raise the issue of being afraid here?

That said from what I can see and what testimony and accounts I have read it certainly appears that these Officers went too far and at some point the subduing of a suspect became the punishment of a suspect.

At what point was that, when the police officer puts on his gloves and tells the victim he is going to f' him up?

If you want to know why this occurred look no further than the fellow officers. The police bemoan the no snitching attitude prevalent in minority communities but encourage the same attitude in their own organization. I guarantee you there are officers who knew these guys and are saying to themselves it was only a matter of time.

video of beating here:

” Because of drug use or mental condition the combative person seems to not feel pain.”

-Really? Why was Thomas begging them to stop beating him, if he couldn't feel it? First off, autopsy results showed that the victim, Kelly Thomas, had NO drugs in his system. He was sober. Thomas was KNOWN to the these police to be a mentally ill, homeless person. He was a local, his dad was a retired cop.

“It is a frightening experience.”
-yeah I would imagine being beaten to death by 6 guys would be pretty frightening, as well as painful. One of the cops did get a banged up elbow smashing it on Thomas face.
