The flood of North American crude oil is set to become a deluge as Mexico dismantles a 75-year-old barrier to foreign investment in its oil fields.
Plagued by almost a decade of slumping output that has degraded Mexicos take from a $100-a-barrel oil market, President Enrique Pena Nieto is seeking an end to the state monopoly over one of the biggest crude resources in the Western Hemisphere. The doubling in Mexican oil output that Citigroup Inc. said may result from inviting international explorers to drill would be equivalent to adding another Nigeria to world supply, or about 2.5 million barrels a day.

The political electorate is still here and they will not be ignored and they will not go away. Pelosi and Reid will go away.
I don’t have to, Keep in mind that we have a rogue government that pretty much does what it damn well feels like.
You can say that about every single thing you have, own or buy or whatever. Everything you have has gone through the taxing mechanism several times before getting to you ... :-) ...
The last time I looked, we were still structurally, and very much in practice - a Constitutional Republic. That’s what we were set up as.
The fact that you have some representatives that you don’t like and they vote in ways that you don’t approve of - doesn’t change the structure of the system. It’s still the same system. All that means (in terms of those representatives) is that you must gather a political coalition together to get rid of them - and that’s exactly what this “Constitutional Republic” would have you do about it.
So get to working on growing that political coalition ... :-) ...
“If Mexico allowed foreign private enterprise to invest in their country...”
There may be a Mexican constitutional issue/prohibition about foreign investment in oil.
Not sure what has changed in Mexico to overcome that hurdle...other than maybe they have learned from Obozo, the US media and Leftists in Congress with a compliant eGOP and a flaccid US Supreme Court that constitutions mean nothing when necessary.
yeah i know but that isnt my point
mt point is that we should shove all the people here illegally back up Mexico’s ass and and what they say about once you leave the farm there aint no going back should be shoved right up their ass
then lets see how much they want to change for the better
That’s based on the assumption of no fields of green glass sprouting up.
They need the money to counter the influence of the drug operation money morphing into political control. Mexico could become a hybrid of Columbia/ Libya.
Thanks Libloather.
If enough money comes into the country, then the drug lords can use their commercial skills for other purposes.
Conoco still remembers the promises of Mexico form the 1960s. They invested in building Mexican petrochemical infrastructure and Mexico seized all investments and nationalized the capital investments of Conoco.
50 years later,...about the time everything is now rusting out, Mexico now wants to seek more foreign investment?
No problem, just be sure the financial transactions are performed on US soil in US banks.

“$2 a gallon gas? Ill believe it when I see it...”
Been dropping noticeably around here (DFW) and I noticed one station at $2.96 today. They were at $3.15 last week.
The more people drive, the faster they wear out roads.
Another Nigeria? I hope this doesn’t mean we’ll get e-mail scams from Mexico . . .
The Mexican legislature just amended their constitution this week. It still needs to be approved by a majority of state legislatures, but they expect it to pass there as well.
Here in the Houston area I paid 2.729 just yesterday at WalMart.
This is HUGH!
It’s about $2.70 here in Tulsa. I remember when gas went down to 99¢ a gallon, here, back in January of 2009 ... :-) ...
The price of gas doesn't affect the government's take, so where would you find their incentive to raise the tax?
They only raises gas taxes very slowly, so nobody screams. Jumping the tax up a huge amount arbitrarily makes no sense and would be political suicide for anybody who votes for it.
