The A&E network's suspension of "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson for comments regarding homosexuality constitutes a form of close-minded muzzling that is unhelpful in a pluralistic society, lead Southern Baptist ethicist Russell D. Moore said....

Wilson Cruz, an actor and spokesman for GLAAD, called for A&E to condemn Robertson's comments. "The world is changing. The country's changing. And even the state in which Mr. Robertson lives is changing. And he needs to get in line," Cruz told CNN Wednesday.

GLAAD also described Robertson's comment about the sinfulness of homosexual behavior as "far outside of the mainstream understanding of LGBT people."

R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said the incident serves as a warning to evangelical Christians.

This is a chilling, if not threatening, statement. The Left has become increasingly and dangerously intolerant of those with political, economic and social views that they don't agree with. A&E can just put up a disclaimer saying “we don’t necessarily agree with the views on this show”. South Park has done this for years: “This program has coarse language and due to its content should not be viewed by anyone.”

That's pretty much standard for most programs.

I would think it appropriate for A&E to post a statement specifically disagreeing with Phil and stating why they disagree.

It's fairly obvious there needs to be a line drawn somewhere. I think Bashir crossed it and should have been fired, even though I agree with his basic point about slavery as a metaphor being used inappropriately.

I don't think Robertson did cross this line. Nothing he said implied the need for government or personal violent action against gays or anybody else. He merely stated his own opinion about what constitutes sin when asked.
