Harry Reid: ‘No Greater Challenge…Than Income Inequality’

“Even as the economy creates jobs, too many Americans find themselves on the sidelines watching as the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class are getting squeezed and squeezed,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said on Thursday.

“There is no greater challenge this country has than income inequality. And we must do something about it,” he told a news conference on Capitol Hill.

His solution is to keep giving taxpayer money to people who are out of work: “There are lots of things that should be done, but the first thing is to make sure that those people who are waiting and waiting to find a job still get the important check that they deserve. Unemployment compensation is something that is good for the economy.” …

let’s wave a magic wand.. and everyone gets the exact same amount per year.

the following week, do you think anyone that use to work 60-80 hrs/week would continue to do so? of course not.

and when those people working 40 hrs/week notice the free loaders... they’ll stop working

and it will continue until it all grinds to a halt.

this is the fundamental flaw with this ideology.

the only way to get people to work under such circumstances is... force. which is where communism always ends up

Exactly. It’s time for Dingy Harry to put his money where his mouth is and introduce a law being passed that requires all of us get the same salary he does. What could possibly go wrong? ;)

Harry wants to redistribute our income, not his.

..too many Americans find themselves on the sidelines watching as the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class are getting squeezed and squeezed,”

That statement doesn't even make sense.

There are those who will always excel. There are those who will never excel.

Harry, Harry, Harry, didn’t you go to school? Can’t you remember that there are some very bright people, and others who have a hard time keeping their shoe-laces tied?

These people when they grow up won’t have the same work ethic, or financial abilities. Accept this.

This is human nature. You can’t change it. If you do, you will destroy the capitalist free enterprise system. As if you folks haven’t already done a masterful job of it.

I think our biggest challenge is evil, Constitution-ignoring, self-enriching, corrupt, America-hating, freedom-killing, traitorous congressmen.

But, that's just me.

Income inequality? How about being lorded over by assholes who think they’re allowed to pass laws and I’m required to comply with them? Is that not a “challenge”?

Harry should know about that. He has used all his power in DC to make his income unequal to that of us lowly peasants. His has grown exponentially. If he were Pinocchio, he would be nose heavy and tip over.

Yeah, he was; got released after 24 hours and went home. One would think that after an episode like that, at age 74 it’s time to pack it in and enjoy what’s left of life instead of pursuing a mad ideology that will result in only evil.

I have to say, it makes me not know what to think of the really old ones. I’m too cynical to believe that most of the left’s elite are “true believers”, they’re there to become the elite. But once that power starts threatening your life, what’s it about? Because if Reid ever was a true believer, he hasn’t been one in decades. It’s been about expanding then shoring up his power (money, same thing in this country).

Harry Reid: ‘No Greater Challenge…Than Income Inequality’...yeah, and like gravity and the changing seasons, it's a part of life and you've got no chance of making much of a change in it, and less business trying......

The only thing worse than income inequality is income equality. You get that when everyone is paid the same regardless of their economic worth.

When that happens, the people who produce nothing have no incentive to be productive, because they know that they'll get paid the same no matter what they do. And the people who can produce wealth have no incentive to do that, because they know that no matter what they produce, that extra will be taken from them for the benefit of those who produce nothing. The result is an economic basket case.

“There is no greater challenge this country has than income inequality. And we must do something about it,” he told a news conference on Capitol Hill.

When one fails to cite a quotation in a public forum, one is guilty of plagiarism.

In this case, Karl Marx said it first, and should be attributed.
