This is our dog. When he was three. He is part Boarder Collie, part Aussie and perhaps something else. Great and beautiful dog. Would love another one, same mix and coloring. Have not had any luck finding one. Our boy is getting old and we would love a new pup for him to train. Any one know of people who breed or have such a beauty?

Yes, I know that the shelters have all sorts of wonderful dogs. But this is the kind of dog we are looking for.

I doubt you will be able to find another just like yours. They all have their own personality.

The best dog I ever had was a mutt named “Old Richard”. He was born the same year I was (1947), and he was an amazing dog. An absolute joy to hunt with. He never lied.

I have had a lot of good dogs over the years, actually not a bad one in the bunch but never one who was even close to Old Richard.

Daddy always claimed Richard’s Mother, Fritzy was an even better dog than Richard but I don’t see how that is possible.

We have an Aussie. We will never get any other breed. They are awesome. Where are you located so you can find one nearby?

More info:

http://www.nebcr.org/Referrals.html

WOODROW — Woodrow is an 8 month old neutered male Border collie mix. We don’t know much about his background.

He is super friendly and loveable. Woodrow has lots of energy and as a result can get into trouble if he doesn’t have an outlet for it. He was adopted out but came back with in a week because he was just too much for the folks that adopted him.

We have been working with him at the shelter and he is a very willing student! He is eager to learn and do anything. He would make an awesome agility dog! He really needs an experienced home with people who have the time and energy to work with him and be consistent with him. He LOVES other dogs and will play all day if allowed to.

If you are interested in adopting Woodrow, please contact the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern MA at 508-586-2053 or e-mail us at adoptions@apcsm.org

Samoyed mixed rescue dogs are the best and all I will ever own.
They are so very smart. much like Border Collies.

Many animal shelters are connected. If you are looking for a particular age and type, you might contact a local shelter. If they do not have what you are looking for, they may be able to contact other shelters for possible ‘adoptees’.

I am looking for a dog that looks like our guy. I know the personalities are different, but face it, we have a beauty inside and out. Would like another one. Our guy is about 50lbs. True farm dog.

I would check with an aussie or border collie rescue group. Sometimes they have info on mixes.

I have had a Border Collie and right now have 2 Aussies.

Great dogs.

My brother had an Aussie/Blue Healer mix and was also a great dog.

Good luck.

There are many Aussie Rescue places out there.

If I ever move to a house with some acreage (not likely at my age) I would love to have a Border Collie.

I have heard they need an exorbitant amount of things to occupy them and are not suited to people that cannot give them tons of activity and play?

We are in the Northeast. I have not found another anywhere like him.

I would check Australian Shepard and Collie rescue groups in your area. There might be a pup near by that needs a home.

He has been a busy boy. Herds everything and makes sure the car makes it into the garage each evening.

So far I haven’t seen anything that comes anywhere near him in coloring or length of coat or plain beauty of markings.

Face it, I am shallow.

It can be a mistake to try to replicate a beloved older dog. They all have personalities and quirks above and beyond breed traits. Even if you were to find an apparent clone from outward appearance, there's no guarantee that the particular drives and behaviors would be the same.

That said, if you like the combination of traits from known breeds, you can start with people who raise those breeds and ask if they're aware of any litters that are an accidental or even deliberate cross. Check the adoption sites, put out word to the no-kill shelters and even the pounds as far as what you're looking for. You'll eventually find it.
