Here are the big losers in ObamaCare
New York Post ^ | 1-2-14 | Carl Campanile, Bruce Golding and Beth DeFalco

New York’s small-business owners, seniors and doctors are among the big losers as President Obama’s prescription for health-insurance reform takes effect.

The National Federation of Independent Businesses, an organization that represents nearly 11,000 entrepreneurs across the state, says it has yet to find a single member whose health-care costs are going down under the ObamaCare program, whose plans took effect New Year’s Day.

Meanwhile, an “overwhelming majority” of businesses canvassed by the group has reported increases in their insurance premiums, said Mike Durant, the NFIB’s New York director.

Michael Kennedy, who runs two family-owned dog-grooming salons near Albany, said changes to his cut-rate insurance coverage mandated by ObamaCare had more than doubled the cost, from $132.99 to $325.92 a month per person.

And when he checked the cost of buying an ObamaCare policy instead, it was “basically the same price, or even more,” he said.

Kennedy, 46, said that he and his wife clear only about $60,000 a year from their Pink Dog Parlor and Resort business, and that paying the new, higher premiums will be “a huge challenge.”

“It’s like another 100 dogs we need to groom,” he said.

Capt. Fred Ardolino, who is the owner of the Atlantis charter yacht that cruises New York City’s waterways, said he was betrayed by Obama’s now infamous promise that “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”

Ardolino, 69, of Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, said his family physician was “randomly removed” from the network of managed-Medicare doctors approved by his insurance company, Oxford Health Plans.

Rove's Chamber of Commerce is going to have to come down hard on these teabag extremists within the business community. Who do small businessmen think they are!

One group that was traditionally courted by politicians, seniors (because they vote) should get organized and start fighting back. Medicare Advantage plans have been gutted and the new regulations on care (severely limited hip replacements or cataract surgery or even routine preventive care such as mammograms after a certain age, severely reduced doctor payments for such common surgery - and the prohibition on paying for it privately to doctors in the plan) are going to have a major impact on the health and well being of older people. All the better to clear the way for the death panels I guess.

Without benefits, she couldn’t afford the $5,000-a-month cost of the prescription drug Xylem to prevent daytime sleeping attacks.

$5,000 a month?

“Small-business owners, seniors and doctors are among the big losers”

That’s because O-care is a political weapon to bludgeon those groups unlikely to vote for Communists.

So the cure for the existing health care system, which was characterized by no less a personage than Michael Bloomberg, recently Mayor of New York City, as “the most expensive and least effect among all developed countries”, is to replace it with a system even more expensive and less effective?

For your own good, of course. Don’t you people know when the liberal elite are looking out for our own best interests?

Just to make sure those best interests are never adequately served. Or even addressed.

The root cause for Obamacare being enacted is to reduce two large financial problems: Social Security and Medicare. By killing off seniors this way, both financial drains are greatly reduced.

Democrats do what Democrats do, that is tax, regulate, control and punish non Democrats.

If the Republicans were not just a shadow version of the Democrats perhaps the nation would have been spared the pain we are all going to have to suffer.

I am ready for a third party. And don’t tell me we will lose with a third party since it is clear we do not “win” when we support Republicans, even when they get into office.

NYC is pretty much dead as it is. They have a commie in charge now and it’s going to be a lingering death, accompanied by much willing and gnashing of teeth.

Yes, and get this: Xyrem (misstated as Xylem in the article) was available just a few years ago for $10 for a 3-month supply at any health food store.

Despite the high costs of Xyrem, nearly every patient gets the drug pretty cheaply — Jazz subsidizes all co-payments above $35 per month — so few users care what Jazz charges., [16]

So, it’s a twofer. Problem solved, and, go long in the death care industry. Any bets that in a few years, Demoncrats will be screaming for “ free burials and cremations?” It’s a right ya know

And Jazz in turn is heavily subsidized by the FDA.

The question is, why ban substances and then implement elaborate subsidy mechanisms. To give skill-free people something to do?

“That’s because O-care is a political weapon to bludgeon those groups unlikely to vote for Communists.”

Correct. But where were these fine folks when O’Bummercare narrowly passed Congress in 2010?

Well, let’s see. The American Medical Association played footsie with the O’Bummer administration — hoping for big subsidies. Seniors — although many Tea Partiers were angry old people worried about losing Medicare benefits — have always been in bed with Democrats on protecting entitlements. The Chamber of Commerce apparently cares more about the Karl Rove agenda and stomping out Tea Party candidates in the primaries.

Obamacare is a license for the Insurance Companies to steal. That’s why they lobbied for it.

I believe they will be sorry when Obamacare becomes Government care, wiping out insurance companies.

O-care is a political weapon to bludgeon those groups unlikely to vote for the Communists and will become a weapon to eliminate those who don’t vote Commie.
Eliminate financially, politically and finally gone.

This will be over eventually, the American people don’t do servile very well. By the time it is eliminated though, there will probably not be any insurance companies that will survive. Obamacare will totally destroy them and we will have to start from scratch. I would imagine we will come up with some kind of coops or pools.
