RE: Is Sotomayor acting in concert with the rest of the SC, or is this solely her decision?

This appeal was made in the 10th Circuit Court.

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, oversees the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

This is common. A procedural thing. This decision can be appealed by Obama to the full Court but it is evident that the votes are not there for Obama.

Sotomayor does exactly what Obama and Jarrett tell her to do. Rest assured, she issued this ruling after getting her marching orders. There is some reason the White House wanted her to issue that ruling. I just do not know what it is - yet.

So I don’t know, but it is really refreshing to finally see a lib SCJ go the other way. That never happens. You must not be familiar with Justice Kagan.

I guess I am one of the few left that is old enough to remember; Morning prayers, The Pledge of Allegiance, the ruler across the knuckles, the lectures on right and wrong, paddling in the Principal’s office and oh so many others AND I went to public school.

No paddling at our school. If anything, our nuns were softies, but still very Catholic. One of my greatest memories: We were getting dressed for a baseball game in our school's tiny locker room. We boys were, well, talking like boys. Someone let out the word for the male sexual organ. Sister Theresa happened to be walking by the door, and heard it. She called us out, literally in tears. "How could one of MY BOYS use such a word?!" For the longest time, cynical me couldn't imagine why anyone would get so upset over one word.

Putting together everything I remembered about Sister, only in life did I finally realize - she was truly concerned about the state of our everlasting souls.

Quite similar to my remembrance of grade school. No Pledge of Allegiance, as I was born in Canada, but mornings started with The Lord's Prayer, the signing of God Save the Queen and O Canada!

I attended public, rather than Roman Catholic school, but I do remember my grade 6 teacher, a tiny little Indian woman, brought up in the British system in India. Man, could she wield a ruler across your knuckles! The look in her eyes and the quieting of her voice when she got angry, wow, THAT was MORE terrifying than knuckles rapped with the ruler!

Is this the same Catholic Church that is still very much in support of ObamaCare, including it’s individual mandate, but like all other interest groups wants it’s own exemption-—’good for me, not so much so for thee’???

This was planned by Vajayjay Jarrett. Abortion is the highest sacrement for liberals and Obamacare is the best way to insure [pun intended] it is widely and cheaply available. Obamacare is also a mess and democrats know it is unpopular. 2014 needs a huge distraction and what better way to give Obama and the dems an assault on the ‘right’ to kill unborn babies. No doubt in my mind this is all planned.

You and I must have gone to the same school. Not only could they outdo Gunny Emery; but Chuck Norris was afraid of them.

I, too, attended Catholic schools for 10 years during the 50’s and early 60s.

I was terrified of the nuns and hated school. I dreaded Monday morning.

Probably, but I have first-hand witnesses of busloads of habit-wearing nuns who were absolutely ecstatic to vote for Obama. As a Catholic, it was extremely upsetting to learn this. I hope they learned their lesson.

Dittos

Public school in Georgia. No ruler across the knuckles, just the “Board of Education” applied to the seat of the pants by my Civics teacher (football line coach) for my not getting a test paper signed and by my Algebra teacher (Basketball coach) for falling asleep in class.

The English teacher (little old lady) would send us to see the coaches for our “instructions”.
