Warmers Use Magic to Create the Illusion of Science
Townhall.com ^ | January 7, 2014 | John Ransom

"Sire, I have been misunderstood.I will explain. There are two kinds of prophecy. One is the gift to foretell things that are but a little way off, the other is the gift to foretell things that are whole ages and centuries away.Which is the mightier gift, do you think?"—Hank Morgan, the Connecticut Yankee, in A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court

In Mark Twain’s classic A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, Hank Morgan, who calls himself the Yankee of the Yankees, uses science over and over to create the illusion of magic to support the notion that he is in fact the mightiest magician of all-time. In the end, the illusion, along with misapplied technology is what does him in.

Today, global warmists use magic to create the illusion of science, misapplying technology along the way. And those illusion are killing them right now.

Yesterday I wrote about how increasingly frustrated global warming alarmists were, practically throwing tantrums as real-time data shows that global warming models do not accurately model temperatures.

Their illusions, in other words, are being increasingly shown as delusions.

Here’s how:

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has recently been forced to concede that a whole raft of predictions they’ve made have been incorrect. Global temperatures have risen to only 25% as high as predicted according to the IPCC models; as recently as the late Middle Ages, the earth enjoyed a period of approximately 300 years which were as warm if not warmer than today; and the IPCC is at a loss to explain why an Arctic sea ice is accumulating rather than shrinking as they had predicted.

In Australia’s New South Wales, the state government has ordered municipal governments to ignore IPCC estimates of sea rise that when measured against historical records, have been off by as much as 90%.

Some municipalities have taken aggressive action based on the too-aggressive forecasts by the IPCC writes The Australian.

“The scientific delusion, the religion behind the climate crusade,” says Maurice Newman, a business advisor to Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, “is crumbling. Global temperatures have gone nowhere for 17 years. Now, credible German scientists claim that ‘the global temperature will drop until 2100 to a value corresponding to the little ice age of 1870’.”

The German scientists have recently released a research that purportedly shows that temperature is determined by the solar cycles, along with Atlantic/Pacific oscillations (AMO/PDO) of 65-year time spans.

“The solar activity agrees well with the terrestrial climate,” say Prof. H. Luedecke and C.O. Weiss. “It clearly shows in particular all historic temperature minima. Thus the future temperatures can be predicted from the activities – as far as they are determined by the sun (the AMO/PDO is not determined by the sun).”

CHART

Indeed, as seen in the chart above the German scientists are predicting that global temperatures will decline for the next 80 years based on a 200-year solar cycle.

But that’s not stopping the alarmists, who continue to make prediction about the next two-hundred years even though they haven’t gotten the last two-hundred years right, yet alone the last two decades.

New models cranked out almost daily by them show that, “oh, no! global warming will be even worse in the future than we had predicted!”

And there’s a sale at Penny’s.

One such report by the University of New South Wales and the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, alleges that warming will be twice as high as the average alarmist predicts currently.

“Climate sceptics like to criticise climate models for getting things wrong, and we are the first to admit they are not perfect, but what we are finding is that the mistakes are being made by those models which predict less warming, not those that predict more,” said Professor Sherwood, lead author of the report according to the Guardian.

That’s because as Mark Twain’s Connecticut Yankee explained to King Arthur:

"Yes, a genuine expert can always foretell a thing that is five hundred years away easier than he can a thing that's only five hundred seconds off."

It’s magic, which of course, you wouldn’t understand.

It's too mighty for you.

When asked about the pause in temperatures, they claim global warming is now hiding in the deep ocean.

Of course in science heat rises, so for Global Warming to work it must mean heat is magically descending below cold.

Hence Global Warming = Magic

There are a boat load of PhDs in meteorology that are losing credibility and respect faster than a two dollar prostitute at a Naval base on a Saturday night.

All based on believing the chain-of-custody of the data from the sensors to the presented documents have in no possible way been altered. Starting at the reader of the sensors all the way through the charts and graphs producers.

That’s if those same sensors have a valid calibration seals and corresponding calibration certifications that also have a chain-of-custody that proves none of them are falsified or altered. All sensors are within the calibration times prior to their expiration and due date for the next calibration.

REAL science is tough. It requires verifiable proof, not just “because I said so”. Including independent organizations launching surprise inspections of the sensors and documentation.

The sensors placement should not be within 200 meters of any manmade structure or any natural cover.

*When asked about the pause in temperatures, they claim global warming is now hiding in the deep ocean.*

It might be hiding in a video game in cyberspace, or in Middle Earth where it’s “millions of degrees”, or it might be hiding in Algore’s gigantic palace.

Some folks assume that these work because of some type of scientific principle, but that is an illusion. They really use magic.

Ever heard of a temperature inversion in the atmosphere? They happen all the time. Happens in the oceans too. That doesn't mean I believe in AGW, it does mean you need to get your facts straight.

Marginalize the marginalizers. Rent seekers co-opting science to coerce consensus via expulsion are NOT scientists.

REAL science is tough.

Really good science requires double or triple blind methods.

Those devising the study don't collect the data, and those collecting the data don't analyze it. This last group if possible doesn't have a clue what the hypothesis is.

One of the most repeatedly verified results of science is that scientists tend to find what they expect to find if such methods aren't used. Even with the most honest intent in the world, they will subconciously manipulate the data. And, of course, when money, careers and prestige are on the line, the most honest intent doesn't always apply.

Sorry, but this doesn't fit here.

Normally, as one goes up in the atmosphere, the temperature goes down. When hot air heated at the surface rises, it rapidly cools.

In an inversion, warm air traps cold air beneath it. IOW, it illustrates qam1's point, it doesn't refute it.

This is why you don’t put an official NOAA temperature sensor over concrete

My bad choice of examples.

Normally, as one goes up in the atmosphere, the temperature goes down.

Actually, around here there is often a marine sublayer that is cooler at lower altitude with warmer air trapping it that then cools off even more at higher altitude, making a sandwich so to speak. The boundaries are rather stark as temperature on my property can vary by 15° from lower elevations to higher.

In the case of the oceans, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation take 30 years or more to complete that does bring colder water to the surface. The warmist claim is that when the PDO last reversed in 1997 the water trapped below is warmer than it otherwise would have been without AGW and that the cooler water now at the surface has not heated yet. At least, that is my minimal understanding of the claim.

Of course they have not ventured forth with temperature sensors and long wires to reach this super heated water layer so as to be able to test this bs... so they just have a hypothesis at best. Even if they did... they wouldn’t find it so they would falsify the data... aka hockey stick science.

“Consensus” science is definitionally not science. It’s the combination of a couple of logical fallacies:

1. Argumentum ad numerum or argument or appeal to numbers, and;
2. Argumentum ad vericundiam or argument or appeal to authority.

“Most scientists” can be wrong (and ARE wrong in this case). And those “most scientists” are NOT qualified to make public policy pronouncements.

Essentially “scientists” for all practical purposes became a priesthood, apostles of materialism. And Americans have swallowed most of their biased pronouncements as the scientific truth they ain’t.

Debate with “Warmers” exp;oses one to the same risks involves with argueing with fools and drunks.

Even when presented with a flawless hypothesis, they go “Full Pigeon”, and strut about victoriously.

Psittacosis cures Bad Pigeon Behavior.

Defunding cures bad “Warmer” Behavior.
