Washington, Jan 24 (ANI): Only six of the previous Winter Olympics host cities will be cold enough to reliably host the Games by the end of this century if global warming projections prove accurate.
Even with conservative climate projections, only 11 of the previous 19 sites could host the Games in the coming decades, according to a new study from the University of Waterloo (Canada) and Management Center Innsbruck (Austria).
“The cultural legacy of the world’s celebration of winter sport is increasingly at risk,” said Professor Daniel Scott, a Canada Research Chair in Global Tourism and lead author of the study.
“Fewer and fewer traditional winter sports regions will be able to host Olympic Winter Games in a warmer world,” he said.

People said from early on that Sochi was a really questionable place for a Winter Olympics as it doesn’t normally get much snow. It’s on the Black Sea, which is where Russians have their Summer resorts! If you look at it, the latitude looks to be about even with Florence, Italy.
More’s the fool for them to promote Global anything. As it is, it should be ‘LOCAL Warming’ (in CA’s case).
They could have held it in Tampa last week..two straight days of waking up to 26 degrees
If you check the History of weather for this region... Sochi is not a great place for the Winter Games... but it is the cheapest region to hold it for that part of the world. They would have to spend a bunch of money on infrastructure to hold it where it would be perfect.
I hope that there are 40 inches of snow on the field and the temps are about -15f. I hope algore is there.
Its a cult. I made a comment on a brutally cold day a couple years ago to a woman. All the sudden it was a cult style voice; “Oh no, global warming is real. My daughter just graduated as an enviromental biologist and unfortunately global warming means it is going to get colder in the midwest.”
She was a customer so I couldn’t tell her;
1) What part of global and warming aren’t you putting together? And
2) Your daughter is an idiot and you have been ripped off.

That's a pretty big "if" There would be palm trees in Minnesota and no ice on the Poles right now IF warming projections had proved accurate. I would be rich IF it rained hundred dollar bills here.

You can't compare a 1950s Olympic temp and 2010s Olympic temp, as if all locations are the same. Anyone with any science knowledge would understand that location, not time, is the primary variable.
Let's just examine the average January temps of four game sites from the 1950s games and the last four game sites.
1948- St. Moritz, Switzerland (-9.5°C)
1952- Oslo, Norway (-4.0°C)
1956- Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy (-4.2°C)
1960- Squaw Valley, U.S. (7.6°C)
AVERAGE (-2.5°C)
2000- Salt Lake City, USA (-2.3°C)
2006- Turin, Italy (2.9°C)
2010- Vancouver, Canada (3.0°C)
2014- Sochi, Russia (5.9°C)
AVERAGE (2.4°C)
So, with 10 minutes of research, I discovered that the average temperature of the last four Winter Olympic locations is 4.9C warmer than the four starting in 1948, due completely to location, not AGW. But this genius, likely spending months of time and tens of thousands in grant money, decided that location is a non-factor in temperature and that AGW was the clear underlying factor.
And the Left wonders why we don't take their “smart people” seriously.
So is this moron suggesting that the indoor ice rink events will be affected by the outdoor temperature?
Or the temperature on the higher elevation ski slopes will raise from 10 degrees to 13 degrees will make them unusable?
Is this moron unaware that recent bobsled/luge courses are refrigerated?

Not going to argue the horrible liberal types that run my home state of NY. places like the meadowlands are pretty far from the horrors of places like Newark and NYC.
Do you consider the cities of New Orleans or Houston any less Liberal? Yeah the states may vote conservative but the stank coefficient seems to live in many cities even in the so called Red states.
Perhaps this location was picked, knowing that it would be too warm, just so that the international spotlight would then be on "Global Warming". Just saying.
