It looks like the Kansas congressional delegation is moving to the right.
It wont be easy. Kevin Yoder, Lynn Jenkins, Mike Pompeo and Tim Huelskamp, Republicans all, are already thought to comprise the most conservative delegation in the nation.
But observers from both parties said last week that the potential of tea party primary challenges, coupled with ambition and conviction, may have led the four to conclude its impossible to be too conservative in 2014 Kansas.
Thats exactly what they think, said Bob Beatty, political science professor at Washburn University in Topeka. In Kansas, theres less and less fighting between moderates and conservatives. Now its between conservatives and other conservatives.
That dynamic has been evident for months on the Senate side, where incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts is responding to tea party challenger Milton Wolf with increasingly conservative statements and votes.
But over the last 10 days of January, conservative state Sen. Steve Fitzgerald of Leavenworth said he would challenge Jenkins in the 2nd District Republican primary, in and around Topeka. And former U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, also a fixture on the partys right, refused to rule out a GOP primary challenge to Pompeo in the 4th District in Wichita.

Yep, sadly there are folks out there like that.
Why they couldn’t just move to a socialist/communist state and live in total bliss, I have never been able to figure out.
If I ever go to New York, I’ll keep that in mind.
It’s about 2,347th on my list.
:^)
Typical. You KNOW there are liberals that need your tax dollars and yet, you deny them their DESERVED ‘revenue’.
See, this is why everyone hates us.....
;)
Lynn Jenkins is not a conservative.
Love shopping in Lawrence (hate the politics) but haven’t been in the Raven bookstore since the owner and three patrons stood around the checkout counter for over 10 minutes bashing Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas. Enough is enough...
Funny though...you can be too thin, too rich and...
.
...too ghastly liberal!!
I’ve never been in the Raven bookstore although we walk past it often. Mr. Mercat and I own a small farm in Douglas County and go out there (in nice weather) and get all hot, tired, dirty and sometimes bloody and go to the Freestate for dinner and a beer. We used to go over a lot when my MIL was alive but we have little reason to go now. There’s a very nice bookstore south a bit on Mass. Trying to think of the name. East side of the street. It is quietly Christian. I always try to buy stuff there if I’m in the neighborhood. Nice Christmas gifts.
And the downside for us in Kansas is that if the most conservative guy in the primary loses we still get a guy that is more conservative than a lot of conservatives. Win-win.
I'm afraid that you are right, she just plays one at election time.
LOL!!!
It is hard to be a far right congresswomen. If your district includes the most liberal counties in Kansa and include the liberal universities like KU and KSU. Jenkins is doing a great job.
Your reply was basically her defense when I inquired as to her vote to end the Govt Shutdown. I have the luxury of sticking to conservatism and rewarding it with my vote.
