“Don’t mention the war.”

One of the best episodes for sure.

Or Wounded Knee.

Or if one Indian tribe is still responsible for the massacre and enslavement of another tribe? Just asking.

Of course this Emma Green from the Atlantic appears to be a liberal trust funder. Hold your nose and look at the type of articles she writes. Very predictable.

If my father dies owing $10,000 on his Visa card, I am not responsible for paying it. They can take it out of his estate, but they cannot force his debts upon me. Why do people think they can make the current generation pay for what another did? It makes even less sense in America; slavery was 150 years ago and the families of a good many of people living in America today did not even come to this country until after slavery was already outlawed. If an Pole came here five years ago, is he responsible for slave reparations? He had nothing to do with it and gained no benefit.

Perpetual guilt is mainly a leftist notion which has been used over the years to tug at people’s moral sympathies and induce them to support self-defeating policies of various sorts.

There’s a Latin concept called “mortua manus” (dead hand). It’s a metaphor for actions of the past controlling the destiny of the present. This was often seen as a negative thing, since the present has its own duties and priorities.

The German government has agreed to pay €772 million ($1 billion) for the homecare of Holocaust survivors throughout the world. The decision was reached by the German Finance Ministry together with the Claims Conference, a Jewish fund for victims of Nazi aggression, after negotiations in Jerusalem concluded on Tuesday.

The money, which will be given in stages between 2014 and 2017, will provide some 56,000 Holocaust survivors -- about a third of whom reside in Israel -- with home nursing care, medication and social services, said the Claims Conference in a statement. The funds are especially important now, it added, because the survivors who are still living are increasingly elderly and have an ever-greater need for such services.

In 2009, Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz announced that he will demand a further €450 million to €1 billion in reparations from Germany on behalf of some 30,000 Israeli forced labor survivors. As of 2013 no agreement has been reached.[citation needed] Israel has also sought large discounts on the purchase of two German-built MEKO warships. Israel has also received two Dolphin-class nuclear-arms-capable submarines for free from Germany, along with substantial discounts on two others, and has two more on order for a total of six as of December 2012.

Germany’s postwar reparations program has become such a matter of fact that many Germans are not even aware that their country, after paying $89 billion in compensation mostly to Jewish victims of Nazi crimes over six decades, still meets regularly to revise and expand the guidelines for qualification. The aim is to reach as many of the tens of thousands of elderly survivors who have never received any form of support.

In prominent places among the government buildings in the heart of a reunified Berlin, Germans have placed new memorials honoring the Jewish, gay, and Sinti and Roma victims. But the reparations program, which was created when Konrad Adenauer, the first chancellor of West Germany, and Israel signed the Luxembourg Agreement in 1952, receives far less attention.

“We have 45 million foreign-born in this country, not counting their American born children. In 1970 one in 21 was foreign born; today it is one in 8 the highest in 80 years; and within a decade it will be one in 7—the highest in our history. 87% of the 1.2 million legal immigrants who enter annually are minorities as classified by the USG. By 2043 we will be a minority-majority nation for the first time in our history.”

Such stats give me little hope that a true conservative will ever live in the White House again.

Sooo, if you feel like waxing philosophical, let's see which group is mostly at fault for "everything". (Yes..I like being a pain.)

Why can’t we just all be friends?
By Earthdweller

The answer to this fundamental question seems to be hidden in the fact that hate is what we know well. It's been around since the beginning of the ages.

No one, man, woman or child, no nation or group have been able to contain it. Everyone claims they don't have it and everyone claims they are the victims of it. Everyone believes they have the perfect solution for it and yet it lives on.

For the survival of our own species we all build up our defenses against it and war against each other.

Who is this enemy? Is it really a person? Of course, we say, most certainly it must be that other person, that other group, not us... it was the one who struck first. It was "their" fault. But who really struck first? Can we recall a real beginning point to this hate?

It must be in the air we breath, it can not possibly be part of me so it must be you because I know it is there and I can not place my hand on it.

Will you accept that someone must pay for this hate? Will it be you or me? It must be stopped. We all know it must be stopped.

I don't want to pay for the hate of the ages, so will you please pay the price of it for me? No you say, I must be the one, my people and my children.

Well I am not that strong. Find someone else.

And so we will go forward, on and on feeding the hate. Going from one place to the other looking for that one to blame for it all, until someone pays today for yesterday.

Won't someone please volunteer to pay so we can just stop? Is there no one who is willing? Not even for the whole world?

Surely that person will be worshiped for saving us, but no, even if that person did pay for us, we would not recognize it because all we have ever known is hate. We know how to deal with it...blame someone else.

How can we live without it now? It is familiar to us. So we must all worship it instead. We will feed the hate daily, with grievances of all kinds, and forever until the end, when we all pay, for the hate.

The price of hate will surely be the death of us all.

Yep! The Germans were taught to hate Jews by Hitler. The newspapers were on Hitler’s side, just as our papers are mainly on the Democrat’s side.

Not Hitler. Luther. It even goes back farther than Luther, too. It’s part of the DNA in that part of Europe.

The sins of the father are not necessarily visited upon the sons.

But the same set of bad ideas persist in other forms, and the lust for power has never been so entrenched in the human psyche as it is now.

Slaughter, atrocity, impoverishment and mass murder continue apace today, driven by the same bad ideas. All you have to do is to look around.

Demography is destiny. The country will move further and further left and away from the vision and values of our Founders. Great powers rise and fall and we cannot escape that fate. We are committing national suicide thru our immigration policies. When historians look back at what caused it, they will point to the 1965 Immigration Act as the cause of our downfall.

Kabar, I appreciate that post. I’m not sure how many folks are aware of that, but I wasn’t. I am glad to read of it. Having said that, I also believe that there comes a time when these things have to wind down too.

While I appreciate the German government doing this, at some point in the not too distant future, it’s going to come time to put this behind us in total. We’re probably not quite there yet, but it’s coming.

My disdain for the E. U. is how they continually, and habitually take the side of the Palestinians over and over and over again. They provide big dollars for the Palestinian territories, and never make demands that hostilities cease or the funds do.

At the same time Israel is continually and habitually urged to give up on land or some other tangible, for peace. And at the same time, nothing is demanded from the Palestinians.

The Palestinians aren’t even asked to quite calling for the destruction of Israel and all Jews, or to stop sending missiles into Israel on a daily basis.

Syrian territory Israel took over (I believe it was the Golan Heights region), is now demanded to be returned to Syria, even though Syria was been arming Hezbollah in Lebanon. Syria has at various times located large numbers of troops in the region close to Israel.

When Syria did all this, the E. U. remained silent.

Every time there is a disagreement, it seems at least to me, that Israel is the one though of by the E. U. as the transgressor.

When suicide bombers were coming over into Israel to kill people, the E. U. got angry when Israel started building the wall. I mean come on..., where does it end?

There’s an ill wind blowing in the E. U. regarding Israel, and I wish they would wake up.

Perhaps you have a different perspective.

“It’s a perennially reoccurring question: What makes someone Jewish?”

I think I would worry more about what God’s definition of a Jew is.

No more so than I am for slavery. So, according to most blacks, the answer is yes.

hmmm. When God releases His full wrath on the earth during the tribulation it is to avenge those who have been murdered for their faith in Him. It is not that those who suffer His wrath are “responsible” for all historical evil and the deaths of all the prophets, but that those who partake in evil and are not God’s children are participants in all evil and would in fact condone the holocaust. We are responsible for not telling the truth, for not revealing that abortion is child sacrifice, that divorce and adultery are hated by God. Black and white, no gray.
