NO, not purely by virtue of being a German Citizen.
Actually, the EU (including the UK) is not alone in the world in holding this view. In fact, the US and to a lesser degree Canada, are somewhat isolated in their defense of Israel. We are the minority.
The influence of Islam and its growing presence throughout the world, including in the EU does shape perceptions and opinions.
Theres an ill wind blowing in the E. U. regarding Israel, and I wish they would wake up. Perhaps you have a different perspective.
There is no doubt an increase in antisemitism in Europe, France in particular. I have lived a total of 14 years in Europe in five different countries. Europe is changing, but not the way many may think. There is a counterrevolution going on against the EU. Nationalism is rising along with resistance to immigration and the impact it is having on the language and culture of the countries and the EU's intrusion into national policies and economy. Countries don't want to be centrally managed from Brussels. Look for a major move to the Right in the upcoming elections this Spring.
Only a fool or a left-wing liberal would believe today's German's are responsible for the holocaust. That's like saying you and I are responsible for slavery when we had no direct or indirect hand in it to begin with.
Thank you Kabar. I sure hope you’re right, not to indicate I doubt you. It would be refreshing.
Look, you make a good point about financial support for the Palestinians from the U. S. We also do it, and it’s wrong.
We were pumping money in when the Palestinians were for all intents at war with Israel. Sending over hundreds of missiles per day sure isn’t peace-time, even if the damage was quite minimal. Of course if your property or loved ones were damaged or died, it certainly wasn’t minimal for you.
Only if they are capable of paying reparations.
Unfortunately, we live in an age where far too many people take on the role of "professional victims." Once the last Jewish person from Europe born before 1950 passes away, there certainly won't be any more Holocaust victims left ... so a lot of people in the subsequent generations must take up this "victimhood."
This isn't unique to Judaism, mind you. You can find the same pathology in almost any religious or ethnic group.
I dont know why; it never has been. It will certainly be the death of a great many of us but with nearly 6 billion of us on the planet I dont think it will ever get all of us.
I have said it before and I will say it again: The natural state of mankind is war. Peace is the aberration.
Hate is the tool of despots. They use it to incite the people to war or to dispose of unwanted populations or outsiders; those who are not us. Hate is used to control the populace. You will note that every communist despot on the planet uses hatred of the United States as a goad to spin up the people to get behind the socialist band wagon and support their dictator.
The fear, suspicion or hatred of foreigners or those with a different language, religion or customs is a natural survival mechanism that is simply the manifestation of the territorial or the pack instinct genetically imprinted on our nature.
We can try to understand our natural inclination to hate and there by control it but face facts, it is not going away.
If they weren’t killing each other they’d go out and attack another tribe to capture women for slaves and kill the men.
No. And I’m not morally responsible for American slavery.
Only if they praise it.
(Exodus 34:6-7) - "Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; 7who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations."
Ah!
The difference between Christians and Jews:
“He visits the iniquity of parents on the children: when they hold onto the deeds of their parents in their hands [i.e., emulate their ways], for He already explained this in another verse, [that it means only] of those who hate Me (Exod. 20:5). -[from Ber. 7a]”

“Of course this Emma Green from the Atlantic appears to be a liberal trust funder. Hold your nose and look at the type of articles she writes. Very predictable.”
Bingo. She’s a neo-Nazi pig looking for justification to be the next Heinrich Himmler.
Yes but that was revised by Deuteronomy 24:16 and
Ezekiel 18:2o. Kid not punished for parents’ sins.
If so then PETA should file lawsuits against all the Indian tribes for killing the defenseless animals in pre-colonial America.
Divine revision is an, ahem, interesting concept.
:^)
Oh boy! another “What difference, at this point, does it make?” or “they old, thats old school people. We in a new school.”
Are present day Mongols responsible for the millions of people slaughtered by their ancestors almost one thousand years ago? Modern Turks for their slaughters? Other warlike cultures who many centuries ago invaded and slaughtered or enslaved other cultures? That would make virtually all cultures in the world guilty of crimes committed long ago. The answer to the question of the Germans....of course not.
Of course not, but being familiar with the Germans I prefer to see them down with the guilt.
Germans are arrogant perfectionists and it is the entire reason why they fond love with weird and inhumane ideas of Hitler at the time.
They tends to make things done and loves everything organized to the point that it seems like they hate everything living in other terms up to a running with scissors after imperfections to kill them off.
What about asking the Japanese if they are morally responsible for what happened to NanKing, The death march and other cruel things the Japanese did in the 30s and 40s.
