So you’re saying that people should have the right to promote bestiality, pedophilia and incest as well as homosexuality?

You’re sick. When the founders wrote the Bill of Rights, free speech was not meant to include promoting depravity and gross immorality.

And that is the way it should be - the way they intended.

It’s a sad day when Free Republic is a platform for people promoting the homo agenda, bestiality, incest and pedophilia.

The fact that people bought into their gay-rights campaign doesn't mean that those campaigns should be silenced by the state. To redress what you believe are wrongs is a human right no matter how much I disagree.

You’re wasting your time. Unfortunately I’ve found FR to be full of the “free speech for me but not for thee” crowd. How liberal of them!

I'm not promoting any of those things. I'm saying people have a right to speech that allows them to redress states. I think it's dishonest to imply otherwise.

Thank you for the debate but it’s time for me to get my errands done. It’s been invigorating.

Gay rights groups say the new law discriminates against gays and that it has fuelled attacks on homosexuals in Russia,

Just because they say it, doesn't make it so. For all I know if there were any attacks, they were hoaxes, just as they are here.

" To redress what you believe are wrongs is a human right no matter how much I disagree."

Doesn't apply to perverts and deviants who endanger children and, in fact, society with their unhealthy, abominable behavior. It never has. This applies to queers, pedophiles, and those who practice bestiality.

What about this simple fact escapes you?

I think you’re operating on a different level from the rest of us in that you view this strictly as a legal/constitutional matter and not a moral one. A government is reflective of a society’s values as it should be. Morality first, government second. Now, if there is a fundamental divide between people over gay rights as you suggest then we can go to war over it and the victor can secure the levers of power to settle the dispute once and for all.

But I don’t buy for a second this libertarian notion of government as being some sort of non-interested, agnostic, neutral arbiter in cultural disputes. Maybe it should, but pragmatically it is not. Government is force, and the question is who has the power and right now it is the other side.

So is government supposed to be a force for good? Or is it supposed to be like the monolith in 2001, just there blank and non-expressive?

Yes.

What you are promoting is not sick, it is evil.

Those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it.

History has shown, beyond any doubt, that the path you are promoting will result in the deaths of hundreds of millions of Americans

We’ve already seen 55 million Americans sacrificed on the altar of such relativist buffoonery.

"Yes."

Dear Jesus.....

I notice you conveniently left off the important part of why the civil answer is 'Yes'.

What you are promoting is evil.

History has proven that beyond any doubt.

Think before you post.

I notice you still have the freedom to protest the relativist buffoonery.

Puzzling to me why you would want to promote a system which history has shown would shut down your voice in such matters.

Your ignorance is appalling.

Homosexuality, pedophilia, and bestiality are evil.

Faggotry is described in Scripture as shameless, debased, detestable, and an abomination. Promote it, and you invite God’s judgement on your country-—or at the very least, His turning away. I believe we see that happening now.

It’s not ignorance, it’s pragmatism. You didn’t get your view of government in a vaccum. It’s a culmination of 2,000 + years of human thought and history. You’re proceeding from a conclusion (which you inherited) that contains fundamental truths about human nature. And yet you accept threats to those truths which are the underpinning of your understanding. That is appalling.

I agree entirely with your statements, and your observations above about perversion and moral corruption, and likewise with similar observations by Trisham, Little Jeremiah and others.

But somehow I can't take the next step, regarding locking up those who disagree publicly with us--possibly including Fluffy Texan and Balding Eagle, right?

I'm not playing a game here. Obviously the question is deadly serious. We already see the incredible moral degradation of our beloved country at the hands of leftists, deviants and relativists of every stripe.

Somehow for me the answer lies not with calling out the homo-speech police but rather fighting back as we always have, by way of family, community, moral decency, setting the example of a strong productive God-fearing life.

What am I overlooking? Why should I trust the government & its police to regulate good speech and bad speech?

(I ask the questions with all sincereity)

There are only two sides.

1. Those promoting the evils of homosexuality, bestiality, incest and pedophilia should not have the legal right to promote such evils.

2. Those promoting the evils of homosexuality, bestiality, incest and pedophilia should have the legal right to promote such evils.

There is no third choice.
