Rankings put Cornyn as more conservative than Stockman
Dallas news ^ | Feb 6, 2014 | Todd J. Gillman

New rankings of lawmakers’ votes show that that Sen. John Cornyn ranks as more conservative among senators than Rep. Steve Stockman ranks in the House, despite the latter’s contention that Cornyn is too liberal:

How they rank: National Journal, a public-policy magazine, ranked all members of Congress on a conservative/liberal scale based on votes on key legislation in 2013. Cornyn ranked the 14th-most conservative of the 100 senators. Stockman ranked 138th among the 435 House members. He was behind all but two of the 24 Texas Republicans and in the middle of all House Republicans.

How it works: The particular issues that come up for a vote in any given year can contribute to fluctuations. Stockman ranked especially conservative on fiscal issues, but less so on social and foreign policy issues, which dragged down his composite score. Social policy was Cornyn’s most conservative category.

I sure don’t trust the National Journal. And my opinion of RINOs is quite low, Cornyn being one.

If Cornyn is more conservative than Stockman...

Then Harry Reid is more conservative than Stockman...

"in the rankings!"

Yeah sure...so it wasn’t Cornyn who voted for cloture to raise the debt ceiling? Right?

"Cornyn worked against the Tea Party at every turn behind the scenes"

That's all we need to know about him. He's chosen sides against the Constitution and against the people. It doesn't matter what his past record has been. He's proved that he can no longer be trusted.

Since you are promoting this evil man, can you explain how he was the head of the Republican Senatorial campaign and the 2 candidates he funneled the most money to left the Republican Party.

Do you have a chart that shows Arlen Specter and Charlie Crist are the most conservative Senator and governor ever? (Was Murkowski no. 3)

Those #s don’t really tell you much. Guess who the same National Journal had as the #1 most conservative Senator in 2010?

John McCain.

http://www.nationaljournal.com/magazine/mccain-s-shift-makes-him-senate-s-most-conservative-20110224

Now, I don’t think anyone would say he’s the most conservative.

What happens is you have guys coming up for re-election, like McCain in 2010, and now Cornyn in 2012-13 who see which way the wind is blowing and know they have to move to the right to fend off primary challenges.

Where was Cornyn in say 2008-10?

In 2011 he was the 14th most conservative, just ahead of McCain who astonishingly went from being the most conservative in 2010 to the 16th most conservative in 2011.

In 2009 he was the 12th most conservative.

Hell, they didn't raise the debt ceiling, they got rid of it entirely. That's what liberal republicans do for the nation.

“Facts” (from the comments)

Below are Senator Cornyn’s votes if they look conservative to any of you.

Voted to fund Obamacare against Cruz
Cornyn’s “Bloomberg Bill” could take away the gun rights of hundreds of thousands
Voted for Walls Street Bailout
Voted to raise debt ceiling eight times
Cornyn introduced an amnesty bill in 2005 (s1348) that would give amnesty to illegals
Voted for the fiscal cliff tax hike
Voted multiple times against fiscally conservative budgets proposed by Senator Rand Paul, Senator Mike Lee and others that could have saved trillions for the American taxpayers

Below is Stockmans Votes and Positions:

Voted to defund Obamacare
Never voted for a tax increase
Worked with Rand Paul, and introduced “Restore The Constitution Act.” for “Separation of Powers Restoration and Second Amendment Protection Act.”
Worked to create jobs by expediting building permits for new plant construction, promoting energy independence, working on keeping power costs low and fighting to keep government out of private sector

I have to completely disagree with you. It is unfair to call Cornyn a RINO. He's much worse than a RINO.

In 2008, he was the head of the Republican Senatorial Campaign and his work was at best incompetent.

He did it again in 2010 and he completely sabotaged the Republican effort. The GOP would have had at least 50 seats in the Senate without Cornyn working behind the scenes to prevent it.

How do you explain how he funneled the most money to senate candidates that became Democrats. And Cornyn was supporting them even after they switched.

And here are some true facts that actually mean something

“Bradley was born in Washington, D.C.[2] and attended the Sidwell Friends School. His parents were devout Christian Scientists.[1] He graduated from Swarthmore College and briefly interned in the White House during the presidency of Richard Nixon. He received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and was also a Fulbright Scholar in the Philippines.[2] Bradley earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1983.
Bradley is brother to Barbara Bradley Hagerty, NPR Religion Correspondent and author of Fingerprints of God: In Search of the Science of Spirituality.”

That is the owner and driver of the NJ and Atlantic Media. You have a flaming lefty telling you who is conservative. Are you a loon or a troll?

National Journal is a hard-left news outlet that’s part of The Atlantic Media group, and uses its moniker’s similarity to the National Review to fool dumbasses like you. Check out their editorial staff, fool.

For those who are interested in facts...

Do you mean facts as in RINOS pushing to get cloture so a bad bill will be passed, then try to tell us they voted against it? Does Cornyn have any similar "conservative" items in his record? Does his conservative record contain any hypocritical "conservative" votes where he also worked behind the scenes to stab constituents in the eye? Do you think he deserves to be kept in power?
