The Death Knell for Climate Change Orthodoxy?
Fuel Fix ^ | February 23, 2014 | William O'Keefe

Posted on 02/24/2014 5:03:20 AM PST by thackney

In the short space of less than two weeks, there have been several climate change actions that might be signs bordering on desperation. First, Secretary of State John Kerry stated that climate change was like a weapon of mass destruction. And then, President Obama announced plans for additional heavy-duty vehicle fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas standards to further reduce carbon emissions that he claimed are having a severe impact on our weather. On top of these Administration announcements, a hedge fund billionaire announced a commitment of $100 million in climate advocacy.

Climate change advocates have been on defense since last fall’s report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the continued failure of the climate system to conform to model predictions. The shrillness of the apocalyptics just gets louder and more extreme. Their rhetoric proves the Ron Bailey’s truism that freeze or fry, wet or dry, the problem is always the same, man’s use of fossil energy.

Since Al Gore left Washington to rake in millions by selling climate solutions, Secretary Kerry seems to have more or less taken his place. And, now he is using his cabinet platform to continue deep forebodings about our future. While political rhetoric on climate change is to be expected from environmental extremists, comparing it to thermonuclear, chemical, and biological weapons is, as Newt Gingrich said, delusional. His attack on scientists on who do not embrace climate orthodoxy is not only insulting but also dangerous to the scientific establishment. Those who reject the climate orthodoxy provide science based reasons for their positions. People like Secretary Kerry insult and make indictments.

Shrillness is usually a sign of being on the losing side of an issue and his comments certainly qualify as being shrill.

To claim, as President Obama did, that his Administration is breaking our dependence on foreign oil and checking carbon pollution that is having severe impacts on our weather, as he not only did in announcing the fuel efficiency standards but in comments on the California draft takes hyperbole to a new level of excess. The evidence to support his climate change views keeps shrinking by the day. As it does, it appears that the President doubles down.

Professor John Christy, for example, has more than once pointed out that the models that the climate change community rely on have consistently been wrong. In addition, he has documented that warming in the deep atmosphere, which should be the driver for the weather phenomena that are used to bolster apocalyptic claims, is not warming at an alarming rate. Professor Judith Curry in recent Senate testimony detailed in depth the scientific flaws in these claims as well.

The collapsing scientific foundation for the President’s legislative and regulatory climate agenda in matched by public apathy about climate. Public opinion polls have never shown climate change to be high on the public’s agenda even among environmental issues.

Time is running out for the president and that might explain why a liberal billionaire is planning to spend $100 million to influence this year’s elections. If he is successful, we will have three more years of economy damaging regulations that will do nothing to influence the climate system.

Try hundreds of millions. He's worth close to half a billion now. I wonder how many people lost jobs because of that sociopathic piece of pig vomit or how much money people lost paying at the pump while this attempted rapist is living in multi-room mansions and flying the world in private jets. I think it goes without saying he cashed in on insider trading when he got the government to give his BS green companies OUR money yet here he is still walking around a free man.

“Climate change” Every time I hear that phrase my blood boils. The ONLY reason they are calling it that now is because we’ve been having cold winters which flies right in the face of “global warming”. Freakin’ climate change, yeah it’s called “Change of seasons” asshats.

Arguing with the climate warming Nazis is like trying to explain to an ape that you can turn right on a red light. The last 50 IQ moron that I talked to insisted that CO2 makes up 40% of the atmosphere.

I return to a previous question that has gone unanswered regarding truther solutions.

There has been a recent story of birds being fried in the sky by mirrors on green energy complexes.

How is it that these facilities are NOT heating the atmosphere? Hot enough to burn birds but not heating the air? Seems implausible.

Anyone?

Air is more transparent than birds to IR. Brids soak it up and fry while the air is only somewhat heated. Target on towwer is painted black for that reason.

How is it that these facilities are NOT heating the atmosphere?

Because they do not create heat.

They direct heat that arrived from the sun into a concentrated, smaller surface.

But the heat they direct, already passed through the atmosphere and would just be spread out on a larger surface if the mirrors did not exist. The total heat input into the earth atmosphere is unchanged, only distributed differently.

“...the continued failure of the climate system

-
One would think this would be better worded as:
...the continued failure of the modeling software to predict the climate...

Instead of saying,
“Why doesn’t the climate perform the way my climate modeling software says it should?”

They should say,
“Why doesn’t my climate modeling software accurately predict the climate?”

A subtle, but I think, important difference.

Should ask: “What’s wrong with the model?”
Not: “What’s wrong with the climate (and how can we ‘fix’ the broken climate)?”

When talking about weather, and not climate, and the forecast for tomorrow is not accurate,
we don’t wonder what is wrong with the weather, we wonder what is wrong with the forecast.

Of course that's libtard logic. It is the climate that has failed to conform to the models. It isn't that their pet computer climate models aren't worth the disk space they're stored on. Even in admitting defeat the libtard cannot admit to being wrong.

You can smell the desperation on the global-warming / climate change scammers. First there was the damning evidence of what we suspected all along - that they were falsifying and cherry-picking their data to support the conclusions they wanted. Then there was the admission that there hasn't been any warming in 17 years. This pushed them over the edge. We now have them floating ridiculous theories about all the heat that should have warmed the atmosphere for 17 years mysteriously going into the ocean. But when you have Kerry likening it to a WMD...that's when you, me, and the paperboy down the street all know that global warming / climate change has jumped the shark. It is all over but the messy screaming of those who won't give up.

The facilities modify the albedo causing light energy that would have been reflected to stay inside the system. That said, the numbers are so ridiculous low that aren’t even worthy of consideration (just like the stadium seating half-seat comparison on human CO2 intervention, etc).

The only thing melting this long cold winter is the evidence from the fraudulent models of university climate researchers who are attached to the government through grants. They have to have a crisis a week to keep the money flowing.

The most wicked result is that they have used our children in their propaganda war, causing those most vulnerable to respond to these false alarms about future doom with depression and at worst, suicide.

I used to think that AlGore was an idiot. A divinity school dropout who couldn't even carry his own state in a national election.

I've since changed my mind. I now think that he's a very shrewd con-artist who used his failed presidential bid to build a sucker list, which he then bilked for 100's of millions of dollars.

Thank God he didn't get to the presidency.

We must understand that their ‘science’ is Political, not Empirical.

Therein lies the entirety of the movement.

Well, your blood will only boil more.

Now that we’ve had 17 year of no climate change, a new term has emerged:

Climate adaptation

Without admitting that the climate isn’t changing, a growing group of pseudo-scientists are selling themselves as ‘experts’ on how to manage life once the climate does change.

Same calls for bigger government and wealth redistribution to solve a ‘problem’ that doesn’t exist.
