PARIS A French-built warship designed to strengthen Russias ability to deploy troops, tanks and helicopter gunships is getting its first test run Wednesday just as Western powers are trying to rein in Russian President Vladimir Putins military threat to Ukraine.
A spokesman for the shipbuilder says the Vladivostok helicopter carrier is setting sail from the French Atlantic port of Saint-Nazaire. A few hundred kilometers away in Paris, Frances government is hosting American, Russian and other leading world diplomats Wednesday amid mounting tensions over Ukraine.

It is quite an anachronism, isn’t it?
The French make fantastic military equipment, actually.
Usually for use for other people.
They certainly supplied my home country (Israel) with nice jets and arms when we most needed it because Truman had a Jewish dislike.
Not on “Talk like a pirate day”.
I still say crank up the car and dial the phone.
