Christians outraged over Team Obama's assault on German homeschool family

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security will not deport a Southern Baptist family from Germany that sought asylum in the United States so they could home school their children. The government’s reversal came one day after the Supreme Court declined to hear the Romeike family’s case – a decision that could have led to their deportation.

The government did not explain why they decided not to send the family back to Germany.

“This is an incredible victory that I can only credit to Almighty God. I also want to thank those who spoke up on this issue—including that long ago White House petition,” said Michael Farris, chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association. “We believe that the public outcry made a huge impact. What an amazing turnaround—in just 24 hours.”

Uwe Romeike said he is extremely grateful for the support and welcome he has received from America.

A lot of the same outraged people had the opportunity to change leadership in 2012 but decided to take their chances instead.

I have the feeling the administration didn't want a precedent set for seeking asylum in this country.

That would explain their not deporting the family after the family lost its case.

Of course, that's opinion not based on an in depth study of the case.

Which is why they will be allowed to stay.

Barry’s strategerists realized that riling-up red state Christian voters ahead of a midterm was a fool’s errand.

This case was a firestorm created by HSLDA to push international homeschooling issues. The family could have moved to any neighboring country and had freedom to homeschool - a smaller move than what it takes to get from their current house to Nashville. I don’t think it is a legitimate asylum case. Have they sought citizenship? Have they filed for permanent status based on their anchor baby? They are complicit with HSLDA in trying to abuse the system meant to help people with no other options. They chose America over England “because it was cheaper”...

As a homeschooler, I think everyone everywhere should have the freedom to homeschool, but this case was a ruse.

Christians filled with faith and doing home schooling?

The agenda of the state can not be compromised by filling the spiritual vacuum with G-d.

It must be filled with messiahs provided by the Progressive policy makers.

Period.

IMHO

The Obama administration readily gave political asylum to the Boston bomber’s family and never questioned it when they then went back to Dagostan for “vacation”. The only thing that helped the Romeike’s was all the publicity about their case. Deporting them would have caused a firestorm.

Perhaps the Democrats also wanted to avoid the appearance of a precedent just so it’s easier to get away with not deporting border violators from Mexico who could send votes their way to boost their unpopular and unwarranted causes for election.

It may have been a ruse but I know that you cannot homeschool in Scandinavia. Don’t know about the rest of Europe.

That's how this story looks to me, too. (And I'm a homeschool parent in favor of the Romieke family staying here.)
