Who are your “brothers and sisters”? The Dearborn, MI muslim who hates you, the El Paso, TX illegal who hates you or the Maimi, FL Cuban who hates you?

My circle of brothers & sisters keeps getting smaller & smaller. They don’t always fall into the category of “my Countrymen” either.

Multiculturalism kills nations....we are witnessing it. I’m feeling it.

Other than say that I was born free and when I die, I will die free . I will not say that I will do this and that, but if I am still living when that day comes, I will do the best I can.

You fight for what is yours. Or it isn’t yours. You don’t rent Freedom - you either own it or you relinquish it.

That's exactly what these expats did. They wanted the freedom to conduct their financial affairs in other countries, something that was being effectively prohibited by the policies of the IRS. So, they reached out and grasped that ring of freedom, because they felt they had to do it. In most cases, it appears to be a matter of financial survival.

If anything, it is we who are left behind on these shores who have relinquished our freedom. These expats decided they would make a hard choice, and I can't say I blame them for their decision.

There was a time where I could honestly say that I couldn't condone such a decision. But now, with a sniveling loser as President and half the population utterly stupid enough to vote for him...well, please forgive me for noting that American citizenship may not be worth what it once was.

“...My plan B is getting my family to safety, in another country, most likely. ..”

Why would you expect them to be safe anywhere else? This is a world-wide thing, brother. Either now, or later.

“..My destiny is very likely to eventually die of a head shot from the DHS round ...”

My fervent hope is that that is NOT the case. I’m all in favor of Patton’s doctrine in that regard.

I understand your words, either way.

“...Who are your “brothers and sisters”?...”

We know our own.

Those others you mentioned... do you think they’re the first and ONLY ones who’ve hated us? Them and their allies on the Left have always been there. It’s nothing new. Run away, and you’ll find them wherever you go.

“...My circle of brothers & sisters keeps getting smaller & smaller. ...”

Well then, welcome to the War, friend. You aren’t alone. Which IS the point of all this discussion.

Screw ‘em, they are off the team, better for us.
I don’t want a single weakling sniveling beside me complaining about freaking MONEY!

Sweet Jesus, freedom isn’t about money, to me.

RE; Did those foreign countries make the sacrifices that our fore fathers did?

Let’s take Israel as one example... I would have to say their fathers fought to establish their country ( against all odds ).

RE: Did they spill blood and write “guarantees” that ours did to provide us this country and freedoms?

Again in the case of Israel, they are more free than any of the surrounding countries that want to attack and destroy her. In fact, Arabs are citizens in Israel and are elected to parliament. Gay rights are recognized.

RE: Did those countries provide opportunities that this country didn’t?

In the case of Israel it did not in the past. But if you see their economy today, that’s changing.

Look, I am not saying that America is not a country blessed with a great heritage.... but many countries can make a similar argument you just made.

We don’t condemn the Jews who left Israel to become American as cowards and betrayers of Israel.

The counter to the above argument would be this — What if America has CHANGED into a country that her forefathers did not envision it to be?

What if instead of protecting her citizen’s rights, the government actually uses its powers to coerce citizens to cough up their money for things they don’t believe in (funding the killing of babies, forcing people to buy healthcare, forcing devout Christians to celebrate the gay lifestyle, etc. )

A valid argument would be — if you had the spirit of the American pioneers, you would be fighting to keep your rights instead of giving up and running away.

Unfortunately, many Americans have lost that spirit. Nearly half of our citizens depend in some form of government aid already ( see Mitt Romney’s 47% ).

Perhaps these people have given up too soon...

Sorry you feel that, Milt.

I don’t.

Running away and renouncing my birthright will never be an answer, not to me, nor was it to my ancestors who fought so damned hard to get here TO BE AMERICANS, and then spilled their blood over it.

And I don’t see those expats as making a hard choice”. I call it cowardice. Money is temporary - duty, honor, and obligations imposed on you by the blood of others sacrifices is NOT.

We’ll just have to disagree on it.

The first time the rebels take over their little backwater country, they’ll come crying to the US Embassy wanting protection.

“...I will not say that I will do this and that, but if I am still living when that day comes, I will do the best I can....”

Roger that, Sport. Every person has their moment of truth, and it’s usually faced alone.

What’s that old prayer?
Don’t pray for an easy life, pray to be a stronger man, don’t pray for tasks equal to your strength, pray for strength equal to your task...

This is what it is, and I don’t want to be remembered as part of the generation that turned out the lights and locked the door.

That’s what running away means to me. Being part of..... that.

Non-Jewish Americans were spilling blood in Israel for decades after its independence. Ask any Vietnam fighter pilot if he was contacted by the Israelis.

“...freedom isn’t about money, ...”

Yeah, I imagine that would look real good on a headstone, you know? Real fitting epitaph for an American, right?

“Here Lies Joe Doe
Doesn’t have a Country No Mo’,
Couldn’t hack it, so he Ran Away
But He sure enough
Kept His Money Safe”

Being taxable and being taxed are two different scenarios.
Most Americans living overseas have to do a Tax return, however, after the income exclusion and the use of form 1115,(foreign tax credit) the taxes are virtually zero. You can take the foreign taxes paid to another Government as a direct credit against US taxes.
Since most European countries have higher taxes than the US, you have (in most cases)tax payments as excess. You can, as I have done, apply those overpayments as a credit in future years. That means after you return to the US and have to pay taxes, you can apply that towards your liability.

Granted it is. The next question is this — Why not DECRIMINALIZE it? We’ve done that for Marijuana already.

I'm going to disagree: you cannot decriminalize something that is not legitimately criminal — to wit: the 18th Amendment was needed to grant the power to regulate alcohol to the federal government, no such amendment exists with respect to drugs. Instead of being authorized via constitutional amendment, the federal government says that congress may regulate intrastate commerce because it impacts interstate commerce [see Wickard], they've even gone so far as to claim that noncommerce is able to be regulated in that manner by congress [see Raich].

The country was started by people who “left it.” I guess we’ll dishonor them as well.

RE: . You can take the foreign taxes paid to another Government as a direct credit against US taxes.

What about interest on deposits in foreign banks? Are they credited against US taxes?

Say I have a the equivalent of millions of dollars deposited in a bank in Singapore earning interest ( this, plus the appreciation of the Singapore currency, say amounts to $40,000 interest ). Singaporeans tell me that foreign bank account holders are not taxed in Singapore.

If I declared that interest as income in the USA, wouldn’t the ENTIRE $40,000 be taxable in the US?

Very simple:

Tanz mit dem einen, der dich herausgeführt (dance with the one that brought you).

You were lucky enough to be born or immigrate to a country that allowed you to glean an education and obviously enough wealth that you could live abroad, but when she needs you it is time to jump ship rather than fight for her until it is obvious she is lost. Yeah that is an American value, not.

Well then...if this spineless, gutless puke doesn't have the fortitude to defend his nation's honor, by all means, he should renounce his so-called "citizenship".

Hm, what sort of honor does a country have when:

  1. It actively supports the murder of the unborn?
  2. It denies "standing" to anyone that would challenge the legitimacy of those in power? (e.g. Obama's eligibility)
  3. It engages in state-sponsored terrorism? (See Fast & Furious)
  4. It denies that targeting those of a politically differing opinion is not acceptable?
  5. It spies on its own citizens without warrant?
  6. It makes laws so vague that you are a felon, just not yet convicted?

RE: I’m going to disagree: you cannot decriminalize something that is not legitimately criminal

OK, I’ll admit poor choice of words.

So why not just rewrite the tax law to say — ONLY INCOME EARNED IN THE USA is taxable?

Almost all countries in the world have this law (except Eritrea). Why can’t we?

The United States, in all of its glory, is only one of two countries that taxes its citizens no matter where they live.
