The Photographer’s Story (Is Everyone Who Opposes Gay Marriage a Bigot?)

Is everyone who opposes gay marriage a bigot? If a photographer declines to participate in a same-sex wedding, should she be held legally liable, on that basis alone, for discrimination?

I don’t think so. Over the past several days, I’ve been following a lively exchange on this topic between Ross Douthat of the New York Times, Mark Joseph Stern of Slate, and Conor Friedersdorf of the Atlantic. I like all three of these writers. I was a best man at a same-sex wedding 23 years ago, and I was a fan of gay marriage even before that. But I’m disturbed by what I see today. We’re stereotyping and vilifying opponents of gay marriage the way we’ve seen gay people stereotyped and vilified. This is a deeply personal moral issue. To get it right, we need more than justice. We need humanity.

The exchange began on Sunday, with Douthat’s column about proprietors who decline, on religious grounds, to participate in same-sex weddings. On Monday, Stern denounced these proprietors—“that infamous trio: a florist, a photographer, and a baker, who claimed their Christianity required that they deny service to gay couples.” Criticizing these and other “bigots,” Stern asserted that “their ‘dissent’ is a hatred of gay people so vehement that they’ll violate non-discrimination laws just to make sure they never, ever have to provide a gay person with a basic service.”

On Wednesday, Friedersdorf challenged Stern’s characterization of the dissenters. Friedersdorf quoted from the photographer’s petition to the U.S. Supreme Court, which gave her account of the events leading to her conviction for discrimination. The email exchange between the photographer, Elaine Huguenin, and the prospective lesbian client, Vanessa Willock, didn’t seem hateful:

We need more articles like this. Many businesses have signs saying they reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. Seriously, would you want a photographer at your wedding who didn't want to be there? A cake baked by someone who didn't want to bake it? Ridiculous.

Yes, it's valid to require someone who sells cupcakes at a store to sell them regardless of race, creed, etc. of the customer. But here we're not talking product; We're talking about performing personal service. Can I force you to come clean my home just because I'm willing to pay you? Do I have to babysit kids I can't stand just because someone is willing to pay me the prevailing wage? Would any sane person want to force someone to babysit his/her kids?

There is another thread around here talking about a British woman marrying her dog. If this photographer was asked to photograph a woman-dog wedding (remembering New Mexico didn’t recognize same sex marriages when this happened) would she be in trouble?

The Slate article focuses on the New mexico photography case, of which I've not researched. But i DO KNOW about the Colorado bakery case involving Masterpiece Bakery.

This was pure hatred and attempted subjugation by militant gay gestapo activists. The real deal: Two Gay Gestapo militants were "married" in MASSACHUSETTS. Later, in Colorado, they searched out and found the one Christian-owned bakery in Denver. There were 82 (!!) closer bakeries to where they live (their address can be found online), some specializing in wedding cakes. But these 2 militants passed by all these so they could confront the Christian baker at Masterpiece and demand a "gay wedding cake" ..... intentionally CREATING the conflict just so they could sue him into oblivion. The baker at Masterpiece told them, "I'm happy to bake a cake for any other reason - birthday, etc. - but can't for a gay wedding." The mother of one of the gay hate filled gestapo militants (*who went to Masterpiece with the 2 militants) admitted, "It was never about the cake." With the legal persecution fund already raised ahead of time, they then sued the baker who may now lose his livelihood (and his ability to provide for his family and children) because the far left Colorado court ruled the baker guilty even though he specifically said he would be happy to bake for any other activity for the militants. These militants doe not even belong in a free country, let alone deserve being catered to!

Homosexuality is a worldview which throws out Reason and God’s Design of the human body. It throws out Objective Truth, Common Sense and the ideology which created the USA and our “Justice (ethic) System”.

Why? Because Sodomites erase Truth/God and Science (Reason/Natural Law) in children. They blur the Truth and eliminate Logic when children-—like the Afghani boys are raised in harems or can never “live” in a normal biological family. The “normal” is never embedded in the conscience.

The boys are fixated at the age of molestation and with the intense desire embedded so a longing to recreate those original emotions. Sexual abuse always warps a child’s “Reality” in immense ways especially if intense emotions are embedded, where their sexual identity formation is extremely warped (like the raped by a Lesbian, Chastity Bono).

It is a fixation in immaturity where true maturity is never reached, which is the ability to “love” “the Other”, true diversity, which is much harder.

It is why homosexuals are narcissistic and self-absorbed, because of their immaturity and without intense therapy they can never “mature”.

Corruption of the children removes sexual morality which collapse all cultures eventually, like the orgies in Rome and Sodom and Noah’s time, and like in the Weimar Republic (Homosexuality was the National Vice and homosexuals were allowed to found Boy Scout troops in the late 1800s), which collapsed into chaos or totalitarianism since there is no self-control, no “love”, no Virtue and no responsibility for offspring and futures. Only nihilism.

Homosexuality destroys the concept of “love”, the meaning of sex and reduces humans to objects of Lust only. It is a warped narcissism/puerile idolatry and rejection of the “Other” which is true diversity/maturity and how nature is designed to “flourish”.

Sodomy is a Vice—and should be a felony still, or, at least discouraged by Laws, as ALL Just Law promotes Virtue. To flip Good and Evil is to destroy Religious Freedom “through laws” which promote Vice.

No one should be able to erase God and Natural Laws from our “Justice” System. Truth/God is being censored unconstitutionally, and the religions of Atheism/Satanism is allowed in the public squares and forced on children with Pride and only Lies and Evil acts are allowed to be promoted (unconstitutional by definition).

Children are being indoctrinated into this Worldview now in their schools to make their Worldview exactly like the little Harem boys in Afghanistan-—where Up is Down, Vice is Virtue. There is no Truth, Christians are silenced or killed and their children are forced to “think” homosexuality is “normal” and that there is no God’s Design in Human Nature. No Biology/ No Science, No such thing as Truth, Normal, etc.

The billionaires, like Geffen, who parade their boytoys at the White House want approval for their evil, vile use of their body and others, and they are paying millions to force the worldview of sodomites into our schools, into our Media, etc.

Of course they started this conditioning in the 80s with “After the Ball”. Sex ED was the nose of the camel-—now they have had books in schools for decades which glorify the fact that little Tommy has two “daddies” and teaching children that there is no morality in sex acts....no God. All sex is “good” even playing with little johnny or masturbating in the playground. It is evil how they are corrupting the “thinking” (worldview) of children.

We are creating little irrational godless Marxists or Afghanis. (intentionally.)
