In the wake of a March 16 referendum in which Crimeans voted to join the Russian Federation, Ukrainian leaders refused to cede any part of the peninsula, calling on their troops to prepare for war.

"Crimea was, is, and will be our territory," said Defense Minister Ihor Tenyukh in a statement delivered at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center on March 17.

Former heavyweight boxing champion and leader of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform Vitali Klitschko announced that Ukrainian troops would remain at their bases, even after March 21, the end of a peace treaty signed by the interior ministries of Ukraine and Russia.

Unless the Ukraine can upgrade their military equipment dramatically in the next few days, this won’t end well for them.

This is getting interesting. Would probably be a good time for Obama to rescind his “flexibility” promise to Russia. Might also want to approve Keystone and start discussing LNG contracts with Europe.

Well, Putinistas keep telling us how STRONG Putin is. I guess he can beat up a country that he’s kept weak with his puppet president. That ought to prove he’s the big man they admire so much.

We keep hearing how strong the U.S. is, but apparently our military will only mess with weak, pathetic countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Why won't we stand up to Russia?

You never know. They might have a fully-fueled, bomb-laden 777 at their disposal.

This won’t end well....

The KGB thug will send in the women and children now. “Civilian” mobs will attack the Ukrainian bases. The Ukrainians will act like adults and withdraw rather than shoot. Man child Putin will then get his booby prize.

God bless the Ukrainian freedom fighters. Brave men and women to the last. Damn Obama and the EU cowards for leaving to the “mercy” of the Reds.
