Ukrainian Government Refuses To Remove Troops From Crimea, Prepares For War
Kyiv Post ^ | March 17, 2014

In the wake of a March 16 referendum in which Crimeans voted to join the Russian Federation, Ukrainian leaders refused to cede any part of the peninsula, calling on their troops to prepare for war.

"Crimea was, is, and will be our territory," said Defense Minister Ihor Tenyukh in a statement delivered at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center on March 17.

Former heavyweight boxing champion and leader of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform Vitali Klitschko announced that Ukrainian troops would remain at their bases, even after March 21, the end of a peace treaty signed by the interior ministries of Ukraine and Russia.

They have tons of weapons -most of which are in storage. They’ve been purging Russians from their military and I suspect, calling up reserves and activating units.

I don’t think China has any interest in dominating the world. All of Eurasia, yes, but nothing overseas.

Japan bombed Pearl Harbor to preemptively keep USA out of the Eastern conflicts. Methinks China learned, and will begin conquest when they’re ready and can avoid US intervention. ...which I’m figuring might be some time next month.

In 20 years? point will be moot.

Get out of my country, you boot-licking commie. You think your pal Vlad is going to come liberate you from the evil liberals? Newsflash for you: he makes them look like choir boys. You don’t have the guts or the brains to vote or shoot your way to freedom so your want some Russian thug who wouldn’t know what freedom and decency was if it kicked him in his hammer and sickle to come and fight your battles for you. In the end you would just trade an out of control liberal government for a full fledged Commie one. Morons like you would deserve it, but the American people deserve more. You are a serf with no real understanding of patriotism or freedom that is if you aren’t one of Putin’s paid agents.

No they could not.
You slept through the cold war.
Other people were awake and paid attention.

There are resources that were open to politics and third party proxy wars, and then there were other core resources that could only be taken in a head to head war.

Nothing barred. Every military resource on the table, nand no collateral damage unacceptable.

The Crimea is one of the latter category.

As long as it remained independent, Russia had access but could use it as a buffer at the same time. Useful to them, useful for the EU, and really, really useful to the Ukraine.

Once Eurocrat intrigue began the oft repeated process of trying to bering the Ukraine into the European union, that détente state ended.

There is no limited anything here. A fight with Russia on this matter is everything goes. If the EU wants that, let them have it. I don’t mind helping them against Russian encroachment...but things they instigate are on them and this one shows that even Obama can be surpassed in the stupidity
department.

I will say this would become a beyond shitty time to be living in Alaska if we jump in here. Nothing will be off the table.

Your hero North Korea is one of two world countries that recognized the results of the happy referendum. Congratulations, you’re in good company!

The first time when we supplied the stingers, the Russians left with their tails between their legs. The beauty of Ukraine is we would be supplying arms to Christians. No Islamic after taste!

I haven’t seen reports of stored weapons. Ukrainians are getting cards to report.

I assume your over-the-top post is at least part satire? I guess the fact that Russia became capitalist (crony like ours), and is not communist anymore didn't cross your radar a few years back? Obviously Putin is not going to liberate anyone. But you can bet that Obama and his Republican allies like McCain will use the perpetual war against the new evil empire to distract or entertain Americans as we spiral down the drain. The military industrial complex is getting a little threadbare, might need a big cash infusion.

Sounds a little oversimplistic. I believe we lost in Afghanistan a little more recently than the Russians and it was much the same stinger flingers who did it to us too. Blowback can be a bitch.

Well, I guess that Obama can send his cupcake (Kerry) to negotiate another treaty with that steak knife (Lavarov) from the USSR...

The Russians’ excellent adventure in Afghanistan, 1979 to 1988, was pre-9/11. I don’t recall advocating our boots on the ground in Ukraine. That’s why I am advocating supplying small arms, possibly from Libya, to the Ukrainians. AFAIK, Ukraine has never invaded anyone. Nor have they harbored Islamic extremists. Looks like a win win to me. What’s not to like about Ukrainians destroying Putin’s reputation? He might get away with things in Chechnya. Ukraine and its Roman Catholics and Orthodox are quite a different story.

Ukraine Gov. is not in any way making the calls here....it is all outside entities determining whatever posturing they take.....including the military.

He might get away with things in Chechnya.

He might actually succeed at keeping the muslim slime from setting up terrorist camps there. Or are you proposing arming Chechen terrorists too?

All I’m saying is arming the Ukrainians won’t lead to the after effects of arming radical Islamics. It’s all good!

...”is a battle if the EU wants to sacrifice their kids”...

TEuropean’s will be in the streets protesting if they attempt to send their kids back into a battle..... Both EU and USA citizens are battle weary from all the other country’s these ‘manipulators’ send our troops out to, and then tell them to “hold their fire” against those who will kill them in a heart beat!
