The first turn to the west that diverted the missing Malaysia Airlines plane from its planned flight path from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing was carried out through a computer system that was most likely programmed by someone in the plane’s cockpit who was knowledgeable about airplane systems, according to senior American officials.
Instead of manually operating the plane’s controls, whoever altered Flight 370’s path typed seven or eight keystrokes into a computer on a knee-high pedestal between the captain and the first officer, according to officials. The Flight Management System, as the computer is known, directs the plane from point to point specified in the flight plan submitted before each flight. It is not clear whether the plane’s path was reprogrammed before or after it took off.
The fact that the turn away from Beijing was programmed into the computer has reinforced the belief of investigators — first voiced by Malaysian officials — that the plane was deliberately diverted and that foul play was involved. It has also increased their focus on the plane’s captain and first officer.

According to investigators, it appears that a waypoint was added to the planned route. Pilots do that in the ordinary course of flying if air traffic controllers tell them to take a different route, to avoid weather or traffic. But in this case, the waypoint was far off the path to Beijing.
Whoever changed the plane’s course would have had to be familiar with Boeing aircraft, though not necessarily the 777 — the type of plane that disappeared. American officials and aviation experts said it was far-fetched to believe that a passenger could have reprogrammed the Flight Management System.

I heard this touched on, maybe with a tank full, it could go a long way so I think it is for the plane. They spoke about this some on Megyn Kelly’s show.

The first thing (of any kind) that disappears is never found. That’s how stuff works. By the third or fourth disappearance, the authorities and international experts will have figured out the whole mystery, you’ll see. Patience.

Just remember 09/10/2001 no one could imagine what the scenario of the next day.
Yeah ... and so, we can see that it was a very well planned event by someone (or several) who knew exactly how to fly the plane and knew very well how the systems worked.
And all that leads me to conclude that they did not fly the southern route (because there’s nothing but ocean there) - but took the northern route.
As to what the purpose of this planned event was (or is to be) - there’s not “any” information (i.e., facts related to this flight) on that - that I’ve seen in any article so far.
What I want to know is, why the let Hines Ward fly the plane?

Bugs. There are many computer professionals on this forum. Ask anyone of us if there exists a computer program without bugs. Axe me. How many computer programs run a modern Boeing 777 jet? How many lines of code? How many bugs do they have? Hundreds or thousands? At least. Think about it next time you board a modern jet airplane. Think about blue screens - Microsoft doesn’t have a monopoly on them. (Yet.) Program bugs could of diverted this aircraft to La la land, I think.
It’s not a “bad thing” to have the pilots of passenger airliners to be very knowledgeable about flying and about flying their plane.
In other words, I’m not going to say, for the flight that I’m on ... “Please give me the most ignorant pilot you have for flying the plane I’m on, because I’m fearful of getting a pilot who knows too much about this plane!” ... LOL ...
Sarah, the three rules of an inflight emergency are 1. Fly the airplane 2. Fly the airplane 3. Fly the airplane.
Seriously, one pilot does nothing but maintains control of the aircraft. The other pilot takes out the Quick Reference emergency checklist, turns to the proper tab (electrical, engine, hydraulics, etc.) and executes the required procedure.
The exception would be the items that are required to be done by memory. That is a short list. It includes engine fire, engine failure, emergency evacuation and emergency descent.
Once the situation is stable, the crew decides whether to continue, return or divert.
Drip, drip, drip. The information comes out ever so slowly.
The whole event took place ten days ago.
Obviously our government knows what happened, and multiple governments are in a panic over what to do. This incessant drip of “news” only buys time until the gravity of this event can be reacted to.
In investigations like this, you either wait for the final report (and even then you don’t get it all) — or you get it from sources who are not authorized to talk about and and slip it to reporters.

Then why wouldn't the pilots then radio "MAYDAY, MAYDAY" or something like that alerting others that their plane has been commandeered?
I agree. But I just find it interesting that these pilots were both Muslim, and the info that keeps coming out, is about how the instruments were manipulated in some way, and could only be done so, by someone IN the cockpit, who knew a lot about how to operate those instruments.
I personally, find the pilots suspicious in this.

I think it all points to a very well planned event. As to whether the pilot was involved himself - or someone else took over forcibly from him - I just don’t know. But if it was a takeover, it would have to be someone just as expert as the pilot - in continuing to fly this plane and get it up to some northern country without being detected.
