In theory, Harry Reid’s “nuclear option” change to simple majority Senate confirmation ought to have ushered in easy confirmation for even the wackiest left wing nominees to high posts in the federal government. But those pesky voters are going to speak in November, and thanks to ObamaCare a growing list of Senate Democrats up for re-election fear accountability. So all of a sudden, confirmation is no sure thing:
President Barack Obama is quickly discovering that getting his nominees confirmed is no simple matter, even with the Senate’s filibuster gutted and Republicans sidelined.
The White House is facing its second Democratic rebellion in less than two weeks over a nomination that’s drawn quick opposition from rural Democratic senators. Obama has enough trouble with the GOP, which is nearly united in opposing Vivek Murthy’s nomination to become surgeon general, but it’s his own party that is again in position to derail another presidential pick.
Democratic Senate aides estimated on Monday that from eight to 10 Democrats may oppose Murthy’s nomination if the vote were to be held soon, mostly because of his left-leaning views on gun policy, which have attracted opposition from the National Rifle Association. An aide closely following the nomination described a vote for Murthy as carrying “very little political or policy gain but plenty of downside.”
What has really got to worry Democrats is the prospect of a post-2016 Republican president employing the nuclear option to appoint reformers to high positions on the federal government.

Bring it on Barry!
If Republicans win the Senate, the lame duck Democrats will change the rules back and dare the Republicans to employ the nuclear option. You can take that to the bank.
I have to admit that eliminating the filibuster for nominees is providing unanticipated benefits.
Dem Senators from Red/Purple states no longer have the option to act as free-riders on Republican-led filibusters, nor do they have the ability to cast votes for hard-left nominees under the justification that they were just standing up to GOP obstructionism.
Now they’re looking at actually having to defend their votes, on their merits. And for a good number of them going home to a pretty pro-2nd Amendment constituency and explaining why they voted to put an extremist gun-grabber into the position of Surgeon General - where he’s promised to make gun control the public-health issue long demanded by other extremist gun-grabbers - is going to be a pretty uncomfortable experience.
How will they able to change it back, considering it belongs to the majority & DIMs will be in the minority?
“the lame duck Democrats will change the rules back”
Yup! You can bank on it. I predicted they would do just that on the day they changed the rule. It’s obvious!
An example of the adage "Be careful of what you ask for, you might just get it"?
They will change it in the lane duck Congressional session.
The other great benefit of this change is the gang of eight RINO’s are no longer needed and have no power and get no airtime. Used and discarded by the press LOL
Agree, enough with the voting for cloture than voting no scam
Not to worry, McConnell will change it right back on day 1 of the 114th congress. /S
No, he will reach across the aisle...
The Democrats won’t have to change anything back, the feckless Republican party will do it for them
Anything he can do to mess up America, absolutely anything. I expect the bast'd to touch off some nukes on American soil.
I think you may be on to something.
Just like the blue/red switch trick -

Suffice it to say that B. Hussein Obama is on the wrong side of History.
