I'm afraid not, in fact certain Brits and Canadians were instrumental in questioning the premises of the Hockey Stick in the first place. See here .

I'm betting that you have made a good guess. That aircraft was either moving toward the satellite or away from it.

Probably lots of processing on the data and out popped the Southern Route. For me the discussions about the essentially 100 percent chance of a military radar intercept by India for the Northern Route did the trick. Nice to see confirmation of that simple analysis.

And note that the Inmarsat analysis is for the most part not Rocket Science. Just a round trip ping to the aircraft. That puts the aircraft on a sequential series of great circles from the satellites perspective. Add in the last known location, a range of airspeeds and (I'm betting) some impossible elevation locations that are either too high or two low and you can chop up that big circle into the two arcs. Disqualify the Northern Arc by the presence of the military radar and, BINGO, you have your answer.
