“Why would it be heading south”
No idea. Something or someone apparently changed its course in that direction that last anyone can tell.
>>Very Interesting. So they had Speed and Time and Distance.<<
I suspect you’ll see him correct his assertion that they had the plane’s speed.
Actually, what they would have been able to derive is the plane’s speed relative to the satellite, but not the absolute speed.
For example they would be able to determine how fast the plane was either approaching the satellite or flying away from it. But unless it was flying directly away or toward it (on a radius with the satellite at the center) they would not get the true speed of the plane.
For example, if the plane was flying a circumference (perpendicular to the radius) at the ping time, it would look like it was stationary in the air from their calculation because the Doppler Effect would be zero.
If you think about that, it would be more accurate to say that it provides clues to the “direction” of the plane’s flight at the ping time, rather than the speed of the plane at that time. Even then, though, there would be two options, but those could possibly be sorted out at the next ping when a new location arc would be generated.
Also, their calculation must assume the actual speed of the plane, or at least and upper and lower range.
Now that’s the question! Wouldn’t we all like to know ... :-) ...
Well, before ... you saw maps of two possible routes - the northern route and the southern route. Today, they are down to just one route - and furthermore, they’ve got the final position pinned down a lot more. This allows the various countries to pinpoint their search into a relatively small area - as compared to before.
Judging from the pings received from military radar stations, the plane was on a zig-zaggy joy ride. Also, its altitude was 45k ft than 23k, then 29k. The pilots had time to steer, ascend, descend but no time to call in. Pretty damn fishy, and I don’t mean the sharky kind..
It definitely wasn’t on autopilot ... :-) ...
And it suddenly didn’t catch on fire and fall into the ocean...Hmmm I wonder what that leaves as options for what happened.....Have to be careful, though.. Don’t want to be called Islamophobes. Let’s just all agree they are all dead and move on..
didn’t suddenly, I meant to say...
If this is in fact where the airliner went down, is it the same area from which some celebrity tweeted a pic of what she thought was the plane burning from within?
I can’t be absolutely sure, because I don’t remember the location she said. However my vague recollection tells me that it was somewhere closer to China and not Australia.
They HOPE it is down in the Indian Ocean...if it is found in Palistan, somebody is gonna get nuked.
Well ... considering it’s the Brits at Inmarsat that say so ... it’s probably true.
I understand they let them fly on airlines based in America, too. SO ... how do you know if United or American has a Muslim pilot on your flight?
They’re tired of being in the spotlight and just want it to go away.
Keep in mind that Inmarsat doesn’t have an axe to grind and it doesn’t care about how much time has passed. They are Brits, there.
Well, wilbur:
1. Dah plane is in pieces in deep water, so don’t look to be picking them out of the water.
2. Dah plane went down in shark waters, you figure d’at one out.
3. Dat’s all we gonna know.
I thought the proper term was Native American Ocean?
That’s the wrong kind of “Indian” ... :-) ...
