ITHACA, N.Y. -- A motorist who pulled into an Ithaca parking lot when he got lost this morning told police he had his vehicle carjacked at gunpoint.

The victim said he pulled into the parking lot in the 200 block of West State Street shortly before 2 a.m. when a woman appeared at the driver's side window of his SUV and pointed a handgun at him, Ithaca police said.

The woman had gotten the victim's attention by knocking on his window with what he believed was the gun, although he was not looking up at the time, police Officer Jamie Williamson said.

The woman ordered the driver to sit in the front passenger's side, police said. When he did, a man got into the back of the vehicle and the woman sat in the driver's seat, Williamson said.

The man in the back seat pressed what the victim believed was a gun to the back of the victim's head as the woman drove toward Elmira, Williamson said.

When they got to the 300 block of South Applegate Road, the woman stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road, ordered the victim out and sped toward Elmira, police said.

Police would not disclose the name, age or any other information about the carjacking victim.

The victim described the woman's gun as a silver semi-automatic handgun with a very long barrel -- probably 7- to 8-inches, Williamson said. The victim did not see the gun that the man in the back seat pointed at his head, the officer said.

Ithaca police are reviewing surveillance videos at convenience stores and other businesses in the area of the crime, Williamson said.

The victim wasn't physically injured, but likely suffered mental trauma, Williamson said.

"It was a pretty harrowing experience," the officer said.

The vehicle is a blue 2005 Volvo V70 SUV, with a New York state license plate number of GKZ3186, police said. Anyone with information should call the Ithaca Police Department at 607-272-3245.

—— criminals do not obey laws——

So, are you accusing the President of the United States and his attorney general of being criminals?

You got that right. They share qualities with the car jackers

Especially one driving a Volvo!

Guy was dropped off 2 miles from my house. Open Google Earth program. Enter, 42.423033,-76.609943 in the search box (upper left).

This is where the guy was dropped off according to police reports. 2.6 miles from my house by road, much less if you are a crow.

i have to admit that something about this story seems a little fishy. He was lost in Ithaca at 2 am? He just happened to stop where he did?

I have a feeling someone was trying to pick up a hooker/buy drugs and got carjacked. But that’s just a suspicion/opinion.

I hope she didn't have more than 7 rounds in the magazine or she will be in BIG trouble!
