“When did I say anything in support of Common Core? Never, and you never will hear it from me.”

I did this exact same assignment back in AP American Government back in high school in the early 1990s. Produced a lot of interesting arguments.

===
@Pearls Before Swine:
If you read the assignment document, your eyes will glaze over.
You think? Shoot, I find it clearer than most corporate project proposals. Why would it make your eyes glaze over?

===
@Rightward Ho:
Why is that upsetting? It’s just a thought experiment is all. We did a lot of this in Law School. Nothing wrong with this. It makes you appreciate the Bill of Rights quite frankly.
Agreed. Some of my fondest memories are of AP American Government. That, combined with Mock Trial and Model UN, made for the best year of high school I had. Thought experiments like this are the best for making you think.

Parents, take your kids out the of the public school system and either home school then yourself, send them to a private school that doesn't teach commie core, or parents should group together and hire a teacher or a retired teacher to teach their children home-school style. And then be sure to elect a Conservative who will yank this marxist commie core crap from our school system and return it to a curriculum that espouses the USA as it should and our methods of teaching children prior to obozo in 2008.

They are all integral. Stupid ignorant communist assignment. You take one away, all the others fall apart.

You’re a mature, emotionally developed, formally trained lawyer. Imagine doing this in, say middle school, when civic knowledge and attitudes aren’t fully formed. It’s easy for me to see this assignment as a “Delphi technique” vehicle for a discussion limiting a number of important Amendments—say, First, Fourth, Second, and Fifth. Throw in the Tenth, too, as this is a centrally organized educational program designed by people who clearly favor centralization over leaving any meaningful power to the States.

“The government is revisiting the Bill of Rights”

I agree totally. That statement alone on such a test should send a chill up our spine. This is not a government role, their role is to abide and protect the Constitution. It is the citizens role to amend the Constitution.

The answer they were looking for is to eliminate the 2A and add an amendment that makes some groups of people more special and protected than others-ie hate crimes.

Repeal all Amendments written in cursive.

No one can read them anyway.

“Don’t worry. I’m certain that no sixth grader has ever seen this, unless they read Free Republic. This is more bogus than an honest Democrat.”

You are wrong. My grandson had this exact assignment in fifth grade in Keller, Texas where they supposedly do not have Common Core in place. He said all the girls in his class wanted the second amendment removed from the Bill of Rights.

Girls - you realize, then, that you have no recourse when someone bigger and stronger than you, ie, half the population, wants to take something from you that you don’t want to give?

Thanks for pointing this out. Your post provides some very important details that help inform the discussion. First, since Keller, Texas does not have Common Core, this cannot be a Common Core product. That matches an earlier post that pointed out that Common Core for Social Studies has not yet been implemented. Secondly, someone is up to no good and is using the classroom for political purposes (Surprise, Surprise). Here’s whom it might be:

1 - The Teacher’s Unions. These organizations are wholly owned subsidiaries of the Democrat Party and make “teacher resources” available to their members that suit their agendas.

2 - The Democrat Party. They have been doing this sort of thing for years, all designed to develop new little Democrats.

3 - Teachers taking the initiative to go online and find things to instruct their little charges in their own philosophy.

Since we now know that this is not from Common Core, parents and school boards need to demand to know the source and to know what teachers are using it and why. This is certainly part of a coordinated attack on the 2d Amendment.

RE: But there is one amendment that IMO should be repealed, and that’s amendment 16.

Unfortunately, the assignment chooses to remove from the BILL OF RIGHTS, not the subsequent ones. So, you only have the first to tenth amendments to choose from...

Wait till ObamaCommie care starts its rampage. Billions are going to be siphoned out of the government. Russian mafia is salivating, Dr. Phantom with his post box office is waiting to get his checks and nobody will stop him. Before the damn thing even started the web developers scammed almost a billion out. For a freakin’ WEBSITE, so you can imagine what this nightmare is going to cost. It’s the 1-2 punch of Obamas assault against the country - The country is in massive debt and Obamacommiecare is the final nail.

...until the states decide to hold their convention limited to forcing huge cuts via Constitutional Amendment or, if not, state nullification. We'll see where it goes from there.
