Conservative activist Ben Shapiro is leading up an online charge of fellow political compadres to boycott the browser Firefox — an outraged response to the Mozilla chief’s departure from his CEO role due to gay rights’ protests.
Former CEO Brendan Eich, who’s been with Mozilla since its creation and actually helped found the company’s charitable offshoot foundation in 1998, announced this week he’s stepping down from the role over a flap generated by a $1,000 donation he made to a California campaign that sought to ban same-sex marriage in the state.

I will be uninstalling Firefox shortly, and I have been using it for years, since 1.5!
I looked around and decided on Comodo Dragon browser to replace it.
Install the XMARKS extension first on Firefox, to sync your bookmarks (I have over a thousand in various folders), and then install XMARKS onto Comodo Dragon and make sure you get a good sync there as well.
Then - Firefox - adios muchacho... for pulling a bone-head jerk move like this.
When I use the tor browser, yahoo doesn’t know who I am. i.e. when I try to log into e-mail it gives two security devices to log in. That’s proof of tor’s anonymity.
But using the tor, doesn’t one become a target?
Do you save/sync your bookmarks using the XMARKS extension (was Foxmarks)? This of course is to be safe, and then anytime I go to a different computer I just sync with XMARKS and then all my bookmarks are there.
So I am going to be using Comodo Dragon which - while not a big player - looks to be pretty secure as well. XMARKS synced all my bookmarks there just fine, and is a good app regardless of browser.
My choice - maybe different from yours - but you have to realize that the people who WERE Firefox 1.0, 1.5 whatever, are NOT these people anymore.

I have Firefox installed on one of them just so my profile stays intact but once I'm satisfied with Palemoon I'll remove the last instance of Firefox.
I’d think that ***they’d*** somehow be watching Tor users.

In so far as the following remain apolitical and relatively bug free and reasonably secure, I think I can use them.

Pale Moon: No. It means exactly what it says: it is powered by Mozilla code. That does not automatically mean the end result is a Mozilla program as it is not developed, published or marketed by Mozilla. The Mozilla code developers (many of them unpaid community coders) who have worked on this Mozilla code over the years and made the gecko engine what it is today -- a community effort -- deserve all the credit where it is due.

Well, used to be that FF actually saved the bookmarks to a file called "bookmarks.html". These days, FF keeps track of bookmarks using JSON files. You can still export your JSON database to an HTMLfile. It will also either import an html file, or a json DB file. I believe they use mysql lite to manage this.
I like exporting it to the bookmarks.html file occasionally because I use the file as my "home" page. Makes for pretty quick startup. Because I've been as religious as I have been in keeping backups of my bookmarks, I still have the very first website that I ever went to buried in there somewhere. ;-) Since I had internet access before most folks had even heard of it, there are probably a significant number I could prune out that no longer work. Some that you wouldn't think so are still valid. I went to a gopher site sometime last year when looking for something. Not many of those are still being maintained.

Agreed. There is so much 'boycott' talk these days, that it loses its effectiveness.

Pale Moon: Say, Grammar Czar , I was very clear that those are my (the developer's) personal views. That isn't "interjecting politics", it is making a statement that I neither agree with oppression of people's rights, nor agree with oppression of freedom of personal views. Understand that I'm not taking sides in this debate/debacle, and felt it was prudent to let people know that my clear dissociation with the Mozilla Corp should NOT be taken as "silently agreeing to the other party's arguments". If it makes you feel better I will make it a personal blog entry, instead
