Jeb Bush: Many illegal immigrants come out of an ‘act of love’(love ????)
Washington Post ^ | April 6, 2014 | Ed O'Keefe

Posted on 04/07/2014 6:32:58 AM PDT by sickoflibs

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush said Sunday that many who illegally come to the United States do so out of an "act of love" for their families and should be treated differently than people who illegally cross U.S. borders or overstay visas.

The comments came during an event marking the 25th anniversary of the presidency of George H. W. Bush at the library and museum that bears the name of the Bush patriarch. The event was closed to reporters, but moderated by Fox News anchor Shannone Bream and portions of the event were later broadcast on the Fox News Channel.

Asked about immigration, Bush started by saying that a bipartisan bill passed by the Senate last year made "a good effort" at proposing ways to ensure that people overstaying visas leave the country.

John Boehner’s ditzy Amnesty Czar Becky Tallent is pimping Bush, too. This latest Bush push is definitely being coordinated by the GOP-e.

Yes. Our current system rewards the slackers. That’s why we need welfare reform like I mentioned in my previous post. Not holding my breath, though.

Many of them truly do do the work that many Americans won’t do

Why are you spouting these leftist lies. Are There Really Jobs Americans Won’t Do? A detailed look at immigrant and native employment across occupations

Of the 472 civilian occupations, only six are majority immigrant (legal and illegal). These six occupations account for 1 percent of the total U.S. workforce. Moreover, native-born Americans still comprise 46 percent of workers even in these occupations.

...and certainly not for the amount of money they earn

That is the bottom line issue. We have 21 million Americans unemployed or underemployed. Americans will work at any job.

Didn’t God create the people in Mexico too?

I’m not in favor of illegal immigration. Let them go through the legal process and become naturalized citizens.

RE :”Didn’t God create the people in Mexico too?”

Their genetic birth parents played a key role in that.

What are you hinting at?

If we had a shortage of labor, wages would be going up, not down.

Let them stay there anyway, unless they are doctors, scientists or other professionals. They have universities in Mexico.

The only labor shortage in a country with millions of unemployed workers is the shortage of common sense in politicians and the people who elect them.

Of course, no one wants to take responsibility for electing the very republicans who now side with the democrats on most every issue of consequence. Until that changes, the chain of stupid will continue.

I’ve lived with the situation all of my life here in TX. We would pretty much come to a standstill if they all left today.

Stop the BS. Life would continue without illegal aliens taking American jobs at slave wages. The idea that we are dependent upon high school dropout illegal aliens is nonsense. WTF are they doing that is so essential that our lives would come to a standstill?

It is playing out that way

all our waves of immigrants since the 1870s, LEGAL immigrants had to prove they wouldn’t be a burden on our gov’t.
That is still the requirement in any country in the world to which anyone would immigrate.

Is there any other country that gives some benefits to people who break the law by sneaking in?

Both parties have abandoned the American worker. The Reps have sold their souls to their corporate paymasters. The Reps most important objective is to double the guest worker programs from 650,000 a year to 1.4 million. The Dems want to almost triple legal immigration to 33 million over the next decade. Flooding the country with huge numbers of foreign workers will destroy the US of A. We already take in way too many legal immigrants annually.

Forget about the illegal aliens who get benefits, usually thru their US born children. There are far more LEGAL IMMIGRANTS who are getting more benefits. We are importing poverty. Milton Friedman said, "You can't have free immigration simultaneously with the welfare state." We have both.

Oh absolutely they have. And still in light of that absolute fact, people on the right and left insist on reelecting more of them.

Every time someone says “Enough” the sycophants climb out from under their rocks to insist we keep cutting our own throats. They don’t care the workers, including THEMSELVES are getting screwed, they don’t care the military id getting screwed, all they care about is the magical ‘win’ no matter the cost.

And Dear GOD, don’t question their ‘conservatism’ as they do it.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

What do you specifically disagree about?

I would never call you a BS’er, BTW.

That's because I am not a BS'er. I back up my assertions with facts.

FYI: New Report from FAIR Finds that Illegal Immigration Costs Texas Taxpayers $12 Billion a Year

"A new study released by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) finds that providing education, health care, law enforcement, and social and government services to illegal aliens and their dependents costs Texas taxpayers $12.1 billion a year – an increase of some $3 billion since 2010. These costs – that do not include federal outlays – amount to a $1,197 a year burden per Texas household headed by a U.S. citizen."

The report, The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on Texans, estimates that about 1.8 million illegal aliens resided in the state as of 2013. In addition, there were about 629,000 U.S.-born children of illegal aliens living in Texas who, like other U.S.-born children, may participate in means-tested programs and benefits. Though these children are U.S. citizens, they would not be in Texas if not for the fact that their parents violated U.S. immigration laws.

Demography is destiny.

U.S. Census Bureau Projections Show a Slower Growing, Older, More Diverse Nation a Half Century from Now

The non-Hispanic white population is projected to peak in 2024, at 199.6 million, up from 197.8 million in 2012. Unlike other race or ethnic groups, however, its population is projected to slowly decrease, falling by nearly 20.6 million from 2024 to 2060.

Meanwhile, the Hispanic population would more than double, from 53.3 million in 2012 to 128.8 million in 2060. Consequently, by the end of the period, nearly one in three U.S. residents would be Hispanic, up from about one in six today.

The black population is expected to increase from 41.2 million to 61.8 million over the same period. Its share of the total population would rise slightly, from 13.1 percent in 2012 to 14.7 percent in 2060.

The Asian population is projected to more than double, from 15.9 million in 2012 to 34.4 million in 2060, with its share of nation's total population climbing from 5.1 percent to 8.2 percent in the same period.

Among the remaining race groups, American Indians and Alaska Natives would increase by more than half from now to 2060, from 3.9 million to 6.3 million, with their share of the total population edging up from 1.2 percent to 1.5 percent. The Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander population is expected to nearly double, from 706,000 to 1.4 million. The number of people who identify themselves as being of two or more races is projected to more than triple, from 7.5 million to 26.7 million over the same period.

The U.S. is projected to become a majority-minority nation for the first time in 2043. While the non-Hispanic white population will remain the largest single group, no group will make up a majority.

All in all, minorities, now 37 percent of the U.S. population, are projected to comprise 57 percent of the population in 2060. (Minorities consist of all but the single-race, non-Hispanic white population.) The total minority population would more than double, from 116.2 million to 241.3 million over the period.

Projections show the older population would continue to be predominately non-Hispanic white, while younger ages are increasingly minority. Of those age 65 and older in 2060, 56.0 percent are expected to be non-Hispanic white, 21.2 percent Hispanic and 12.5 percent non-Hispanic black. In contrast, while 52.7 percent of those younger than 18 were non-Hispanic white in 2012, that number would drop to 32.9 percent by 2060. Hispanics are projected to make up 38.0 percent of this group in 2060, up from 23.9 percent in 2012.
