Last Man Standing Rancher: armed feds are surrounding my farm

A two-decades-old battle between a Nevada rancher and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has resulted in officials armed with machine guns surrounding the ranch and forcibly removing the owner’s cattle, according to the rancher’s family.

Cliven Bundy, the last rancher in Clark County, Nev., has been fighting a “one-man range war” since 1993, when he decided to take a stand against the agency, refusing to pay fees for the right to graze on a ranch run by his family for centuries.

After years of court battles, the BLM secured a federal court order to have Bundy’s “trespass cattle” forcibly removed with heavy artillery, the family said.

They have provided a little fenced in area for the 1st Amendment protesters and the media...And it’s a long way from the ranch...Apparently they don’t want any cameras near the action...

It’s the focus of resources, in the midst of a human illegal alien invasion, that reveals the truth: the government is now the enemy of freedom-loving Americans.

They learned something. They learned they have unlimited authority to kill you then claim they felt threatened. That was what ultimately came out in court. I did paper on RR in high school. Learned about it either in a magazine. It mag have been Playboy... Can’t remember but it changed me. So did the OKC bombing and the inconsistent coverage and info.

I hope this guy wins. Now we know why all the fed agencies carry weapons. Comply peasant or die!

So much for the pigs and their “just doing their job” mindset.

From the article:

“And our sheriff says he just doesn’t have authority, our governor says he doesn’t have authority, and we’re saying, why are we a state?”

“I’m a producer,” Cliven Bundy said. “I produce edible commodity from the desert forage, and all of these things are governed under state law. So, in other words, this type of government has eliminated all of our state law, eliminated our state sovereignty, and has took control over our public lands and even took control over our Clark County sheriff. They’ve taken the whole county over. The whole state, almost.”

Good question in most places of this country - why are we a state? No more individual states, just Soviet Amerika.

I didn’t see in the article why he hasn’t paid the grazing fees...that he said himself runs to $300k?

Re the tortoise...what the heck? Coming from a spotted owl state...where logging was decimated...I do feel their pain w/ what appears to be an inane reason to close down the grazing.

But again I ask, why the heck didn’t he pay for the grazing in the first place?

This is the type of thing that really interests me, especially when it involves legal claims to land. Does anyone know if Bundy has ever shown clear title to the land? Did his family every pay taxes on it or have the plats registered?

The legitimate purpose for the federal government holding so much of the West ceased to exist a hundred years ago.

I would judge that a one hundred year long (plus) family owned ranching concern has a legitimate claim to the right of use at the very least.

But going farther, it is long past time for the states to reclaim those lands and by force if necessary, and asemble state land commissions (preferrably elected by counties) to dispense with them according to their own laws and constitutions.

I’d love to see a confrontation between the Nevada NG and the feds...

“The trouble started when Bundy stopped paying grazing fees in 1993. He said he didn’t have to because his Mormon ancestors worked the land since the 1880s, giving him rights to the land.

“We own this land,” he said, not the feds. He said he is willing to pay grazing fees but only to Clark County, not BLM.

“Years ago, I used to have 52 neighboring ranchers,” he said. “I’m the last man standing. How come? Because BLM regulated these people off the land and out of business.”

Let's just be glad the officers got home safely. /s

I sure hope Edward Snowden doesn't release that comprehensive database of the names and home addresses of all agents of the U.S. feral government, or making it home safely might become the least of their worries.

A buttload of these tortises were ‘relocated’ to make room for a big solar project they were crowing about recently. As if cattle and turtles can’t get along in the first place!

I wonder the same thing. Either he owns the land or nor. If he doesn’t own the land he should be paying rent or have some sort of agreement. You can’t expect to run cattle on someone else’s land for free.
