Nevada ranching family claims victory as government releases cattle (excellent reporting)

BUNKERVILLE, Nevada (Reuters) - U.S. officials ended a stand-off with hundreds of armed protesters in the Nevada desert on Saturday, calling off the government's roundup of cattle it said were illegally grazing on federal land and giving about 300 animals back to the rancher who owned them.

The dispute less than 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas between rancher Cliven Bundy and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management had simmered for days. Bundy had stopped paying fees for grazing his cattle on the government land and officials said he had ignored court orders.

Anti-government groups, right-wing politicians and gun-rights activists camped around Bundy's ranch to support him in a standoff that tapped into long-simmering anger in Nevada and other Western states, where vast tracts of land are owned and governed by federal agencies.

I believe Erkl is very angry and frustrated at this. When a tyke is angry and frustrated, it lashes out. I expect Erkl will lash out very soon.

Had anyone else found/posted this notice I came across in the Federal Register?

No. Thanks.

Odd the timing. No reason stated for the closure that I could find.

Land owners still have right of way. What do you think it means? Except for the timing. I know why that's there.

"The sovereign militias are ruling the day," said Rob Mrowka, senior scientist with the Center for Biological Diversity. "Now that this precedent has been set and they're emboldened by the government's capitulation..."

Now that that, what, Rob? They might take their country back from the government "experts"? Americans nearly shot Americans today, Rob, and not for the first time. My advice is to get the hell out of the line of fire, because this isn't over.

The dem’s private polls must have been on fire and the last thing the dems were wanting is another millstone around their collective necks, definitely about Nov. Mid-Terms.

It’s not over. This was just a skirmish. Now is the time to press the issue and to prepare.

"Had anyone else found/posted this notice I came across in the Federal Register?"

Thank you. Excellent, informative post of record.

It shows the BLM dictated, by their own bureaucratic fiat, and without force of court order or any other judicial review, that 600,000 acres of the peoples land was off limits to them.

The epitome of lawlessness.

$1000 and/or 12 months in jail. Isn’t that sweet of them. And quoting the Code of Federal Regulation. Seems we need to change the CFR, especially in this area.

RE: Backdown Comes Hours After Reid/China Land Grab Report . . . We can thank those FReepers who did their homework to help the Bundys. And we can also thank Alex Jones and his organization for publishing that research.

I was sorely disappointed with Ms Barbara Simpson (KSFO San Francisco) today as she informed her listeners about the connection and lavished well-deserved praise multiple times on Jones - without even hinting of the basic source

Now I discover from the posted article that Jones dumped FR and garnered all praise to himself, it appears.

You have to follow this link to see who done it. "Last night, we revealed how the feds . . . ."

Also, he said they have existed with the cattle for many years with no ill effect. I have not heard that reported anywhere else.

Cows improve the habitat for the tortoise by breaking crusted soils and fertilizing them. That promotes the growth of grasses and forbs that he tortoise needs for food.

The biggest problem for the tortoise is that ravens and crows eat their young, about which the BLM does very little.

As I recall many bullets will need polishing . Perhaps another waste of public time and money by so called law enforcement’ My suggestion is to be very alert for armored enforcement by these wanna-be societal leaches in khaki uniforms.

Ruby Ridge didn’t have the back up or the internet.

You know why? So few of us thought our own government would assassinate its own citizens because they refused to bend the knee. Now we know different. We have seen Ruby Ridge and Waco. We know now the feds are perfectly willing to use violence against Americans if it serves their purposes. Thus 5,000 patriots showed up at the Bundy ranch.

Never again

“The Center for Biological Diversity believes that the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature - to the existence in our world of a vast diversity of wild animals and plants. Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law, and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters, and climate that species need to survive. The Center has six program areas: Biodiversity, Climate, International, Oceans, Wildlands, and Urban Wildlands. The Center looks forward to a future of continued expansion, creativity, and no-holds-barred action on behalf of the world’s most critically endangered animals and plants.”

The Center for Biological Diversity is one of the top 5 leftist environmental groups that regularly files lawsuits (CWA/CAA) against the Government, trying to stop economic improvements and expansion of energy facilities, among others.

They are extremely well funded and staffed by the “New Environmental Left”.

Go to their website and see for yourself.

They have gone far beyond responsible environmental concerns to become the “shock troops” of environmental extremism, along with the Sierra Club, Environmental Action, and the Natural Resources Defense Fund, among others.

Know your enemy before you engage them! First rule of warfare and psy-ops.

This is in direct conflict with Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 of the Constitution.

How so?

Art. 1, Sect 8, Clause 17:To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings
