Kerry just vouched for RT’s credibility.
If you look at RT news during the Crimea crisis, they blatantly claimed that the Russian troops that Putin sent into Crimea were really Crimean "self-defense squads".
Proof:
Crimean military thwarts sabotage of gas plant feeding peninsula (March 15th)
Crimea creates own military by swearing in self-defense units (March 10th)
Crimean self-defense squads in stand off with Ukrainian soldiers at Belbek airport (March 4th)
Crimean self-defense squads enter Belbek airbase (March 22nd)
Then on April 17th Putin actually went on live television and admitted that the 'self-defense squads' were in fact Russian troops.
So they had no choice but to change their propaganda line, although they made sure to spin it as well as they could.
Putin acknowledges Russian military serviceman were in Crimea
That's just the tip of the iceberg.
Keep in mind that RT is under the legal ownership of the Russian government and is essentially Putin’s mouthpiece. That’s like saying Obama’s press secretary is a legitimate news organization.
And MSDNC is Obama’s mouthpiece.
"TATYANA REMEZOVA: Mr President, there was a caller with another very interesting question. I will read the message: Russia has annexed Crimea by force. Does that mean that power is the only guarantee of a state's sovereignty these days?
VLADIMIR PUTIN: Russia did not annex Crimea by force. Russia created conditions with the help of special armed groups and the Armed Forces, I will say it straight but only for the free expression of the will of the people living in Crimea and Sevastopol. It was the people themselves who made this decision. Russia answered their call and welcomed the decision of Crimea and Sevastopol. This was natural, and it could not have been any other way."
So yeah necessarily troops on the ground. Only RT never even mentions it, all their 'news' portraying Crimea being taken over by 'self-defense squads'. So spin, spin, spin.
By the way, welcome to FR.
