McConnell works in a place where RINOs fight all the time - against Conservatives.
1. Bevin didn’t attend a cockfight. It was a rally. For states rights.
2. McConnell’s election team is working with Stephen Colbert to put out attack ads (it’s in the article!)
The headline should read:
Liberal Stephen Colbert Working With Mitch McConnell to Create Attack Ads
Well...
Bye...
Sadly.
I live in central KY. I wouldn’t know how to even find a cockfight. This whole thing is just wierd.
Tea Party needs better internal policing!
Need a candidate questionare:
What are the 3 most embarrassing things you’ve done in your adult life?
Are you still doing stupid things?
Are you capable of THINKING before you open your mouth?
This is ABC which has experienced declining numbers of viewers for the last decade. Most of its viewers are in the NY city metro area and the Washington DC metro area. Kentuckians by and large don’t watch it and those that do are not energized against Matt Bevin for stroking the gamecock votes.
A report two weeks ago revealed that the gamecock association heavily influenced 60,000 critical votes in KY. McConnell had pushed through legislation barring gamecock and dog fighting in all 50 states, hence gamecock fans in KY were furious and invoked states rights to counter McConnell’s edict. Matt Bevin shows up to give a speech about states rights and the liberal media goes berserk, and of course McConnell is their guy.
The real question is whether this jab will hurt Bevin. I think it helps him because now those 60,000 gamecock members in KY are in his column.
I don’t like cock or dog fighting but in the bigger picture I think Bevin is far better to have as a senator than McConnell. I also think he means it when he says this is a state rights issue. The federal government has no business telling Kentuckians what they do with their chickens unless it affects public health in the food supply.
At least Bevin was not sucking.
Didn’t this happen a long time ago?
Never did it...before it was outlawed.
Wish I would have..........
I listened to the tape. The opening speaker makes it clear that everyone is gathered "[f]or the sole purpose of legalizing gamecock fighting at the state level. It wasn't a rally for state's rights in general. Bevin spoke second.
Many FReepers will agree with how Bevin answered the first question presented to him:
Gamefowl Defense Director Dave Devereaux: "Will you vote to support the effort to legalize gamecock fighting in the state of Kentucky?
Matt Bevin: I support the people of Kentucky exercising their right, because it is our right to decide what it is that we want to do, and not the federal governments. Criminalizing behavior, if its part of the heritage of this state, is in my opinion a bad idea. A bad idea. I will not support it.
In an earlier radio interview, Bevin said:
You look at cockfighting and dog fighting as well, this isnt something new. It wasnt invented in Kentucky for example. I mean the founding fathers were all, many of them, very actively involved in this and always have been. These things are part of a tradition and a heritage that go back for hundreds of years and were very integral early on in this country.
Bevin is supporting the rights of the people of Kentucky to determine whether cockfighting and dogfighting should be legal in Kentucky. The law criminalizing attending cockfighting and dogfighting in Kentucky is a federal law.
However, Bevin needs to quit Clintonizing his explanation.
Got to vet some of these T Party candidates as some are nothing more than political opportunists who will do more harm to the T Party movement.
Geez, is this the best the RINO Establishment can come up with?
Ad hominem to eliminate the competition...
So?
Pssshhhttt...this will win Bevin more votes in Eastern Kentucky.
