Officials from the World Health Organization warned this week that the workhorse medications we rely on to keep viruses, bacteria and other pathogens in check are in real danger of becoming obsolete.
In every region of the globe, health officials have witnessed “very high rates of resistance” to antimicrobial drugs designed to fight bugs like Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae, according to a new report. These bugs cause pneumonia and infections in the bloodstream, open wounds and the urinary tract.

The explosion of Asia’s population really occurred when Western medicine significantly increased their lifespans while reducing their infant mortality; it will be interesting to see how this plays out in places where people still bathe in sewage...

That’s about right.
They know very well antibiotics still work for bubonic plague.
No reason to get rid of antibiotics other than they WANT people to die. All this BS that WHO and CDC are spouting is pure nonsense to cover their criminal activity by denying people that that would save them.
There is no reason to have a post antibiotic era unless you want people to die.
Most of the new strains of influenza appear in Asia because people live in close proximity with ducks, chickens and pigs, often letting them spend the winter in the living room or a stall near the house.
There was a “Sliders” episode of a world without antibiotics and a major plague. The elite didn’t do much to study a cure, because they assumed they’d live on in their sterile bubbles while the impure died.
What companies are developing the next generation of antibiotics? This could be the next big investment opportunity.
Things could get pretty rank.

Understandable. A friend who lived in Red China for a while was disgusted by the personal hygiene and habits of the people there (and she was in a big city). The government was trying to get people to act more civilized; I guess they realized it was nasty...

Nah, Reagan will never be over. His tenets were/are timeless.
I’m not sure if you remember or not, but in the early to mid 80s, Reagan was the fall guy for aids not being cured in six months.
BTW, as for the Bush angle, I agree.
I have been pretty hard on Bush concerning the financial melt-down since we had a Republican House and Senate when he was in office, but enough is enough. At some point serious job recovery must begin. It hasn’t.
