With the midterm elections six months away, Democrats are burdened by an uneven economic recovery and a stubbornly unpopular health care law. Perhaps equally important, Barack Obama’s political standing is in some respects weaker than it was at a comparable point in the 2010 campaign, which ended with the Republicans gaining a majority in the House.
A national survey by the Pew Research Center and USA TODAY, conducted April 23-27 among 1,501 adults (including 1,162 registered voters), finds that 47% of registered voters support the Republican candidate in their district or lean Republican, while 43% favor the Democratic candidate or lean Democratic. The trend over the past six months in the so-called generic ballot shows that Democrats have lost ground. In October, Democrats held a six-point lead (49% to 43%) in midterm voting preferences...
At this early point in the campaign, Obama inspires far less enthusiasm among Democratic voters than he did four years ago... Democratic voters’ lack of enthusiasm for Obama may complicate Democrats’ turnout efforts...
Yet the public’s desire for a change from the president’s policies is almost as widespread as it was during Bush’s second term. Thinking about the next presidential election, 65% would like to see the next president offer different policies and programs from the Obama administration while 30% want Obama’s successor to offer similar policies...

Amazingly stupid is that the 2014 Democrats are hopping onto the ACA bandwagon---embracing what they claim are ObamaCare's "positives," even though healthcare is a bigger political bomb now than it was when Dems party got shellacked in 2010.
Lock-stepping Democrats face 2014's gale force political headwinds, dissatisfaction in their own ranks, struggling voters living with a dismal economy, the coast-to-coast disgust that Obama is dragging the country in the wrong direction----all surefire losers at the polls.
President Obama is near all-time lows on his approval ratings and was labeled 'political poison' to the party’s candidates. .... being tied to an unpopular president can be a millstone around an eager politician's neck. Democrats want some of Obama's pull, but Obama, himself, should get out of their way.....and stay the hell in Washington.

BACKSTORY In 2009, retiring Arkansas Rep. Marion Berry presciently warned that ObamaCare was setting up Democrats for a huge 2010 midterm defeat; just as “HillaryCare” led to Democrat loss of 54 House seats in 1994.
Obama scoffed at such concerns; he told Berry, “Well, the big difference here is you’ve got me.”
SO MUCH FOR O'S EGOTISM 2010 Republicans went on to win 63 House seats and six Senate seats.....the largest swing to Repubs in the House since 1938. So Obama was right---the difference was him. ROTFL.
Onward to 2014-2016.
Look for the GOPe to push amnesty this year. If the Dems lose big, and there is a Republican majority in the House and Senate next year, then amnesty would be a dead issue for a while, which would make some GOPe campaign contributors upset.

....... Democrats are suddenly realizing that their foreign policy brain-trust completely misjudged the world.
Being nicer to countries like Russia will not make them nicer to you. The United Nations is not an effective tool for resolving crises. Some foreign leaders are beyond persuasion and diplomacy. There is no “international community” ready to work together to solve problems, and there probably never will be.
You can pin this on Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Susan Rice, but most of all, the buck stops with the president. Those of us who scoffed a bit at a state senator ascending to the presidency within four years on a wave of media hype and adoration are not quite so shocked by this current mess.
We never bought into this notion that getting greater cooperation from our allies, and less hostility from our enemies, was just a matter of giving this crew the wheel and letting them practice, as Hillary Clinton arrogantly declared it, “smart power” (and fronted Time magazine cover).
(These people can’t even label a foreign policy approach without reminding us of how highly they think of themselves.)
They looked out at the world at the end of the Bush years, and didn’t see tough decisions, unsolvable problems, unstable institutions, restless populations, technology enabling the impulse to destabilize existing institutions, evil men hungry for more power, and difficult trade-offs.

Six months is plenty of time for the Democrats to regain momentum, and especially with the low-information voters. NONE of the revelations that will come out about the whole Benghazi deal (including the gun-running into Arabic countries and the Muslim Brotherhood involvement in the Current Regime) shall ever be communicated to the LIV.
More importantly, the Establishment GOP will mange to quash enough of the insurrection by the T.E.A. party faction, to effectively suppress the voting turnout of the natural conservative/libertarian coalition with the smoldering resentment that resides in their hearts.
Once again snatching defeat from the jaws of a sure and massive victory that could be theirs.

I agree with you. And to expand a bit, I don’t think the GOPe wants a massive victory. I think they are content being backbenchers without the responsibility to have vision, or create a plan. Additionally, it seems to me that most of the GOPe is pretty content with the Democrat agenda.
The GOP should be scared too. I’m not voting for my GOP Rep (Jenkins) or GOP Senator (probably Pat Roberts).
Yikes! I said that, but then I looked at who the Rats have running against Jenkins. Scary. Praising Sibelius and everything.
