Suspected Burglars Killed by Home’s Occupants (they broke in to survive)
Fox 40 ^ | 5/5/2014 | Fox 40

Posted on 05/05/2014 12:23:39 PM PDT by Dallas59

Two teenage boys were killed after attempting to burglarize a home along Arcade Boulevard.

Sacramento Police responded to a burglary just after midnight on Sunday morning. When they arrived, they found two suspects had been shot and killed by the occupants.

Neighbors said the owner is an elderly woman, who has been a victim of several burglaries since her husband passed away.

“This Easter, she was robbed, and so she had replaced her deadbolt locks with double locking deadbolts and they still got in after that,” friend and neighbor, Celeste Gawehn said.

Gawehn said her the woman asked a family member to stay with her, in case she was burglarized again. We are told, her family member fired several rounds in self defense, and killed the intruders – 17-year-old Steven Crider and 14-year-old Michael Sambrano.

One of the burglars was “misunderstood?” Looks like the house’s residents understood him just fine.

Anybody want to bet that if ObaMao had a son, he'd look just like him?

From the article...

"“I don’t blame them for doing what they did,” Ashleigh’s mother, Tracy Webb said about the shooting. “It’s not right to break in and to burglarize people’s homes. No, it’s not. But at the same time, a life has been lost. A life has been taken. I’m sure he and a friend, Michael Sambrano, were doing what they thought they needed to do to survive.”

I see no misunderstanding he was a thief and broke into this lady's home to commit multiple felonies. One must beg to ask what would have happened to the lady if her armed relative was not present?

The poor boys, they were good really, just misunderstood and had nowhere to go. More like they didn’t want to follow anybody’s rules and felt it was okay to have the freedom of a thief and prey on a old woman. Thankfully we will never know what they would have done if the woman was alone, since they weren’t afraid to enter a occupied home.

The Sacramento County Sheriff and Prosecutor have been surprising (for CA) in their approach to these crimes.

Somebody breaks into your home while you are there, you can shoot them dead. Few questions are ever asked, they don't even confiscate the weapon.

Folks have an interview a few days later with the DA, then it's done.

Within the last few years another man noticed his new wheels were being stolen of his truck. He took his rifle outside with him for protection.

"They came at me in the night with tire irons"...shot two dead in the middle of the street.

He was never taken into custody.

Almost like Texas:)

Don’t forget, they were teenagers. Is that codeword now?....Dog whistle. If you are black anything below 23 is a teenager or “youth” when you are shot to death. If you are 16 or above and defend yourself, it is “Man kills unarmed youth.” Get with the scenario.

Yes, the poor boy had only one mother and father. He misunderstood that break-in and entering in the middle of the night can get you killed.

This type of defense “he was a good person” reminds me of how the grandfather of Nick Brady [killed by Byron Smith near Little falls, MN], said in response to the guilty verdict for Smith, “Nick was a good kid who just made a bad mistake. Everyone makes bad mistakes sometime in their lifetime. Heck, I made a bad mistake when I was young too.”

Now, I can excuse a grandfather having a hard time accepting the death of his grandson, but to call a series of repeated burglaries and stealing money, prescription drugs, and guns from people’s homes a ‘bad mistake’, is the understatement of the year.

This sort of minimalist way of excusing repeated bad/criminal behavior reminds me of those folks who think everyone goes to heaven when they die.

It said that the grandmother replaced the front door deadbolts with (I assume) double cylinder deadbolts which require a key on both sides of the door.

Just how did these misunderstood little hellions defeat those deadbolts & get in? Too bad for them they succeeded.

What was Grandma packing? It did the job.

The only thing that bothers me is that the old lady wasn’t armed-up herself. There has to be a way for us to get grannies, even relatively frail ones, comfortable with a firearm, so that NO ONE out there thinks anybody is an easy target. But still a very happy ending, and many, many people (maybe dozens) will NOT be victims of these two clowns in the future - and also that our criminal justice system will not have to deal with them.

Search his 'girlfriend's' and her mother's home for stolen property.

Bet you anything something will turn up.

Reason why I'm so certain of this is that the last time I read a story about some robbers shot to death by a homeowner during a break-in, the media sympathetically covered the weeping family members who proclaimed "He was ['a good boy', 'turning his life around', 'thinking of going back to get his GED', 'never hurt anyone', 'etc.']" and how difficult it was going to be without the deceased family member, and so on...

Later on it turned out that a search warrant of the family's property on an unrelated charge led police to finding lots of stolen property that the family was supporting themselves with up by fencing up until the point that their best wage-earning burglar got shot and killed.

Better yet, a little taxidermy and she can mount their heads on a plaque
= = = = = = = = = = = = =
That is good for a ‘start’.

Take the cue from local Police and School districts that will take a car that was driven by a drunk student and crashed and then they tow the car to the entrance to the school so ALL students and others see what the results of drunk driving may get you.

Instead of the stuff heads, just put a plaque outside of the house with the names, dates etc somewhat like the makeshift ‘memorials’ that get placed along the highway.

Of course the ‘family’ may want to put flowers and pics in your front yard to ‘grieve’ for the one(s) shot, but just thank them and include there contribution in your ‘warning’ memorial.
