ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Becky Domokos-Bays of Alexandria City Public Schools has served her students whole-grain pasta 20 times. Each time, she said, they rejected it.

Starting next school year, pasta and other grain products in schools will have to be whole-grain rich, or more than half whole grain.

The most basic rule of child nutrition: If the kid won’t or can’t eat it, the sum total nutritional value is ZERO...

They could save all kinds of money by eliminating school lunches. How did we get so entangled in all of this nonsense in the first place? Let the students bring their own lunches.

I attended public schools in Maryland. We had school lunches but there were no snack machines. Coke machines were for teachers only during the school day, but students were allowed to use them after school.

How about this idea....”Bring your own damn lunch.” It’s a school, not a restaurant.

Nannyism sort of reminds me of people that are on tons of medications and yet their health keeps continuously going downhill even faster not trealizing that their medication might be their problem in the first place...

Exactly. When I was a kid there were things I would not eat at gun point. All these idiots are doing is making kids food phobic. We are going to have all kinds of eating disorders.

We really need to start grabbing these elitists kids and making them go to church and eat bacon, then maybe these idiots will leave us alone.

My wife switched me over to whole-grain pasta about ten months ago. The only way it works....is that you use a nice “fatty” tomato sauce with it. If you go 100-percent with the nutritional pasta and low-fat sauce....it’s a NO-go. If you had real cooks doing this stuff....they’d experiment and realize that the audience won’t consume the stuff. What you have these days are pretender cooks....who dazzle you with culinary art garbage and cite calorie counts/nutritional facts. Put these idiots into some Army mess hall, and they’d be fired in twenty-four hours.

My daughter’s school actually caused her to develop an eating disorder at one point.

They showed her class that ridiculous “Supersize Me” film about the guy who ate McDonalds every day for months.

After that she was not only afraid to eat at McDonalds, she was afraid to eat darn near anything. Took us a long time to get her through that.

You don’t need a Liberal film maker to tell you not to eat fast food every day. That’s what your mother is for.

They probably removed the portion of the curriculum that dealt with the country’s founding and imposed the dietary regimen program in its place.

That is horrible. I have a friend who has anorexia. She’s over 50. These nitwits really either don’t know what harm they can cause or they don’t care.

Cooked properly and with the right fish head, this might not be bad and even better tasting, not to mention more nutritious, than some of the current offerings.
