It’s necessary to disengage the safety lock on a 1911, so what’s your point?

Doesn’t everyone assure themselves that the weapons they handle are cleared (or fully loaded, case dependent)?

Properly applying the required procedures ( all in the owners manual) for all types of weapons, is a requirement to operate and maintain effectively.

“A gun is never unloaded.”

That’s clearly untrue although I understand the intent. If the mag is removed and you check the chamber/cylinder the gun is unloaded. However it is only unloaded until it is out of your hand. Then it must be checked again. Always TREAT a gun as if its loaded (except for when dry firing) and then make sure it is pointed in a safe direction.

The accident didnt happen because the idiot’s gun didnt have a safety, it was because the owner was an idiot (although a loaded chamber indicator might have helped).

I see that you are a newby, but that word you used in post 14 is unacceptable. FR has standards. This is not DU.

There are grip adapters for Glocks. Both of my Glocks have them and they feel more like a 1911 with the adapters. While both are 40 S&W fromes, I have conversions to 9mm in both ... reduced recoil means better follow-up shots.

When I pick up any weapon, I cycle it several times to make sure. A friend taught me that with his Uzi.

After considering the damage this poor fool did to his family, you’re left to consider what he’s done to the millions of righteous good gun owners who will face the consequences of this stupidity.
