In a longtime battle, Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) has sent a letter to President Obamas Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough, asking McDonough to get Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to stop blocking legislation that would authorize 27 Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), including clinics in Lafayette and Lake Charles La.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Louisiana Senate aisle, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) has signed off on a letter led by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell demanding that the Washington Redskins change their name, calling the teams name a racial slur.

These people just don’t know how to think outside the box. The solution isn’t to change the team’s name; it is to change their logo: drop the Indian and adopt the redskin potato. Problem solved! :))

Her eyes look brown in the photo, but I think they're really blue.
It reminds of one of the first movies Ted Turner colorized -- Frank Sinatra's eyes came out brown.

I can’t believe the name of a football team makes the most important issues list. We’re broke, government corruption is epidemic, politicians look us straight in the eye and lie to us, veterans are treated like s#it, traitors like Bradley Manning are given taxpayer-funded sex changes, and Emperor Zero fiddles while America burns.

Redskins ...
Erica Ritz covered this issue.
Glenn Beck tackled the issue head-on.
Ninety percent of Native Americans feel that the name isnt offensive and shouldnt be changed, Beck remarked, echoing a letter written by the Redskins owner Dan Snyder to fans.Students at primarily Native American schools all across America wear the name with pride, and say now theyre afraid they might lose the name.
At Kingston Oklahoma high school, which is 58 percent Native American, the name Redskins has been worn by its students for 104 years.
In fact, Redskins was a name first used by Native Americans.
In 1932, the NFL team moved to the historic Fenway Park and were left under the leadership of George Preston Marshall.
The very next year, Marshall changed the name to Redskins.
Why?
Beck continued.Well thats a good question for the president to ask
the name was changed to Redskins to honor then-coach Lone Star Dietz, an American Sioux.
So the name actually pays tribute to a great people.
Switching to a deeply sarcastic voice, imitating those who want the name changed, Beck remarked:But the people it pays tribute to?
Oh, I guess they just dont know any better.
But Obama does.
And Peter King does.
And NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell does.
But the majority of the Indians
dont have a clue at all.
The speech police using political correctness again to take care of these helpless, hopeless people so they are never harmed again.
Its for their own good
Beck said perhaps its not those who dont want the name changed who are out of touch, but those

Senate action with regards to the Redskins is all intended to be a deflection from all the scandals the 0bama administration is facing. Not one Republican voted to be involved in this Redskins action. Keep the Senate (especially Dems) out of sports.

Dear Jim Noble,
I do not know if you knew this. Here, in Louisiana, since hurricane Katrina in 2005, we lost our regional VAMC. It has just been started, last year, to be built anew, 7 blocks up the street from the old one. (For those that remember the Dixie Brewing Company, that is the new location.)
There has never been another VA medical center, below Alexandria. There were clinics in Baton Rouge. There is -A- clinic building in Lake Charles, (A Denny’s restaurant is larger!), and the one in Lafayette is even smaller.
Alexandria, once a sleepy little VAMC built on the original grounds of the first LSU campus, running its own game, was thrown mercilessly into the limelight, (with all the little shadows scurrying off), after that hurricane came through. As a displaced VAMC NOLA employee, working in Alexandria, I can tell you, we were the red-headed step children.
The only other established VAMC is in Shreveport.
Remember, Mary Landrieu voted FOR Obamacare.
